He told the story about Adams that when he started to make some money he bought loads of guitars and was a good player. In fact he guested with Pink Floyd at Wembley on his 40th birthday. But Paul Simon was his favourite guitarist and singer. After Adams moved to LA to live he got to meet a lot of his musical heroes and when Paul Simon came to town he got his people to try and arrange a meeting with Simon. Paul Simon knew who Douglas Adams was and initially said yes to the meeting. He must have done a little more research because the next day a question arrived from Paul Simon - "Exactly how tall is Douglas Adams?" "Six five" went back the answer. "Meeting cancelled. Paul can't make it." | ||
