Joined: July 2005 Posts: 5 Location: Hermosa Beach, CA | My first guitar was a 1976 Balladeer which is now slowly dying after many years of travelling and too much beach and sun. I love that guitar, but the top is cracking and the sound is not what it used to be. So I bought what I hope will be a worthy replacement. Kind of scary to buy a guitar online, but I found this one and was hoping for some feedback. They say it's a 1982, but according to the reference section on this site, it should be a 1979 (serial number 164735). I paid $279 plus $29 for shipping. Sound like a fair price? Any info would be greatly appreciated. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7337179477&ssPag... 164735

It makes me wish that if I only had the money + approval from the wife for an addition in the household, I would've snagged it for myself! :D Congratulations on your new guitar. Peace, Gil

I'm happy to be able to buy another old classic. New guitars don't seem to have the same quality built in anymore. I have a 5 yr old Taylor 800 series...it sounds great, but I prefer playing my Ovation. Love the neck and the playability. I'll get the new one in about a week and will post results. Thanks again!

Plus, my old Balladeer was worped a bit at the top of the neck. Let's just say that I abused her when I was very young and didn't know any better...

They were very price competitive and included lots of extras with the purchase. That Balladeer looks real nice - Please give us an update when it arrives.

It doesn't go thru all the way, but definitely a crack thru the gloss. Bummer. Otherwise, it's in perfect shape. I just sent an email to the guitarfactory and will post their response.

The crack has grown to three inches. What a bummer. The guitar sounds good though and has a nice neck. Wondering if I should keep it.
