Looks like a Deacon to me.

Lousy dark pictures to boot.

No serial number.

I can never figure out why anyone would have a starting bid and a BIN at the same price.

It does look like a nice guitar.

I've seen several Ovations out of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Must be a stash there.

See, that's the beauty of ebay. It's completely self regulating. This guy is gonna get less than he could of if he had a decent posting. His loss.

I was looking at an SUV on ebay today and the guy had 65 ultra high quality photos. It was amazing. As good as any real testdrive. And he's gonna get top dollar for the car.

If you look at his feedback, you'll see that most of his feedback number was made as a buyer. He does have a bit to learn about effective selling on eBay.

Dave just said it best....pictures, pictures, pictures....every time I've sold a guitar on eBay with 8 to 10 good pictures, I've done well with it (and pictures are only an additional 15 cents each, a bargain).

I messaged the Seller and invited him/her over to the site. This isn't a bash the Seller post. I just hate to see this kind of auction. It makes it too risky to make any real effort to buy.

As I have said many times, there are no rules. I see items get top dollar with no picture, bad picture or 100 pictures. I have also seen items not sell of course. I recently sold a motorcycle, the guy told me flat out in his first contact that he didn't view the pictures because he believes that with current photo capabilities, all pictures on ebay are suspect. He purchased based on what is in the text of the ad and emails. I have to agree with that logic too, because I have made purchases of guitars, spending the extra couple of bucks because it "looked" great in the photos, only to find out, that without any malicious intent, some flaws just didn't really show up in the photo's.

So, if there is one small rule in buying on ebay, it's to ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID, but with a caveat. The person selling may know NOTHING about what they are selling, and that's not your business, it just is how it is.

For myself, I invested in photo lights and built a lighting box for eBay stuff. In general, I think it may help because of the detail that is shown, but it has also been a hindrance in some cases. Sometimes the flaws that are exposed, only show up under 1000 watts of photo lamps, closeup in Macro Mode. Under normal circumstances, they are so minor, no one would think twice, and they would not affect the value. But looking at the picture.... yuch...

Like I said, basically no rules, each transaction stands on its own, between the seller and buyer.

This is correct. As a buyer you should ask questions BEFORE BIDDING.

If you know what you're looking at, you'll know what to ask.

I've never had my life threatend, but I have been consigned to hell

It was over a 25 cent cd I sold on ebay. Which could not be replaced in time for a cheerleading exhibition. I kid you not.

I'm thinkin' $1200 is a good maximum bid on that.

It's "clear" from the pictures that he needs the money for an autofocusing camera.

And what's up with putting your phone number in the auction? I'll bet he is going to be getting a lot of interesting calls for the next six months or so.

I could go check it out if anyone is really interested in the guitar. Sun Prairie is just an over flow of Madison.
