Disclaimer-- I have been wrong before!

I believe that these are Ultras, made in Korea then setup in Connecticut.
The Nice thing is... The Wife Reely Likes It! :D

This One? Right?

I still have not played one... :(

[$538, but I don't believe that includes a case... Imports generally do not]

I haven't played one either, but it definitely is pretty. And no, I don't believe it comes with a case. But, with a solid top and OP electronics, it doesn't seem like a bad deal.

However, the ebay listing shows shipping only to the con. US. But, if you are gonna have it shipped in the US, order it from his website.

Here's the link...

http://www.oklahomavintageguitar.com/newov15debec.html

Shipping is included in the sale price on his website. I've noticed this trend before on several of his guitars; with the same guitar on his website even including a case, whereas his ebay listing does not...

The bling on these guitars are awesome, the sound is just fine. If wifey likes it, you're way ahead of the game. These guitars blur the line between domestic and offshore instruments.

Very blurry.
Quintad Bracing, mid depth, original pickup. I'd like to visit with one of these for a while.

It has a glued together mortice and tenon neck joint...not the new CNC neck joint. Fine for now, but down the road it's a throwaway guitar.

All the original Ovations had a glued M/T neck joint and while they are harder to reset they aren't throw-aways, and this one won't be either.

flag72 i tried buy the same guitar only the quilted one from the brother and the one you see isnt the one you get.he uses a standard picture of the best looking one that he has.i asked him to send me some pictures of some of the ones he has and he claims he is to busy moving into a new building and that would take alott of time to do that.its been a running joke between me & him.i told him that i would buy one right now if he would send me pictures of actuall guitars and he wont do it.
flag72 if you do buy from him i have seen him accept $435.00 for that guitar.good luck to you on it.GWB

For the price, my opinion is that it is a killer guitar. It should sound and play great. It should be well worth the price.

I wouldn't worry about how hard it is to reset the neck. It should be decades before that is even the possibility of a concern. If you like the appearance, I'd say go for it.

Buying over the internet does cause some concern over the exact particular guitar they will send you. So, if it were me, I'd call them up and ask a few questions. Basically, let them know that I am a bit picky. Maybe ask for one with more/less figuring on the fingerboard. You know, something minor but that indicates that you are picky. That way they won't send you the one that someone else rejected or returned.

Oh yeah, call Al at lost art vintage first. See what he can do in the way of price including case. Al does ship internationally and knows how to do it properly.

This guitar has been discussed on the forum before. Check the archives for more info and opinions, both good and bad.

My take — odd even to myself — is that it is TOO blingy. The bearclaw and abalone and inlays are just a bit much.

But I would like to hear one. Unlike the quilted one — which is off-the-charts bling — the BC is is at least a solid top.

Speaking of bling, kinda makes me wonder why these things aren't in all the guitar superstores.

They don't make these anymore. The Ultra line and process is a thing of the past.

I have seen and played this model. Much better than your average $500. guitar. Yes, the ULTRA has been discontinued. Lost in the shuffle of moving more models to off shore production. I think that whole marketing spew about final assembly and setup in the USA was a lot of bullshit. But it's still a good guitar for the money.

FWIW - I've bought two guitars from him/them and both were the exact guitar shown in the picture and I was happy with the transactions.
