This guitar could turn out to be a real deal for someone. This one definitely has some cosmetic issues, so it is priced accordingly. But despite those issues, it also has it where it counts. The neck is straight and the intonation is good. The sound is quite lovely. I just put new light gauge D’ads on it today and it has good punch with a nice brassy ring to it. Like all the other Ovations with cosmetic flaws, once you’re more than three feet away, you can’t see them with this instrument. But they are there none the same. It has several finish cracks that you can see in the close-up pictues of the bridge and lower bout. It also has the famous mustache cracks. The bridge seems solid however. The strangest flaw was also the most difficult to photograph: The edge of the soundhole, right next to the treble edge of the neck, has an obvious upward bow in it. I’ve never seen anything like it. Look closely at the picture of the soundhole from the side. And finally, the last issue involves the pre-amp. It is missing its slider knobs (Kim Keller can replace those quickly I’m sure.), and it seems very loose in its seat. It is actually recessed a little. I’ve never messed with Ovation’s pre-amp mountings, and do not have the time to deal with it right now. I am positive some of you semi-pro luthiers can straighten this out pretty quickly. I do not know if the pre-amp is functioning as I do not have an amplifier. (I hope to get one soon though.) With all that in mind, I want to reiterate that it plays just fine and sounds even better. In other words, this is a stage guitar and a half! Here are the specs: mid depth bowl, gloss natural finish, rounded cutaway, sitka spruce top, 2-piece mahogany neck with maple-walnut-maple center strip, 21-fret ebony fingerboard, maple banner engraved "1995" inlaid at 12th fret, 1-11/16" nut width, 25-1/4" scale, pinless walnut bridge, fancy maple / walnut rosette with pearl diamond inlays, w-b-purple-b-bound top, factory Optimax pickup / preamp system with blend control for top-mounted Telex mini microphone, gold Schaller tuners. Since I blundered into two other purchases recently, I want to move this quickly. It will go up on eBay tonight if I can swing it, but I wanted to offer it here as well. I’ll end the auction early for any OFC’er. I won’t pretend it’s in top condition (though the mothership could do wonders with it), but it’s still a professional-level, American made instrument that will hold its own with almost anything out there. But let’s try to move this one quickly. It comes with its case (WELL used, but all latches and hinges are functional). I’ll ask $599 shipped in the continental US. Overseas members definitely want to check into shipping first. (USPS size limits do not let me ship everywhere.) As always, ask any questions. I’m VERY motivated to get rid of this one because of my other purchases. How about some offers folks?

C'mon Iffy, try a low-ball on this one. See what happens.

This one's inlaid. I don't think I could get it off in one piece.

No offers anyone? I've gotta move this one; my wife's giving me the "eye." (Not the good one either.)

You folks might want to watch this one. The bid is so low with 5 hours left, that this could be a SERIOUS steal for someone, and I would rather donate here than to a stranger.

Mike, PM returned.

I suppose I should tell folks that eBay won't let you end an auction at the last minute. If you're interested please bid. I'll ship to an OFC member for $40 instead of $65 as stated in the listing.

I wonder how some people send their auction earlier? I seen auctions end at the last day before.

I don't know why. Earlier today, it wouldn't even let me answer a legitimate question about shipping to England. Luckily it was from an OFC member, so I could reply via this forum. Frankly, it's very irritating how they can lock your ability to do something with your own merchandise. It's inconveniences like this, even more than the increasing expense of listing there, that make me prefer to list here first. Then there's the added benefit of dealing with people with a higher degree of trust. Things are much less stressful when completed through this forum or the AGF than on eBay.

I swear eBay randomizes its rules! It wouldn't let me answer a question about shipping earlier, but it just let me answer a question about the serial number. Does anyone know the explanation behind this? It's confusing as all get-out!
