I reckon this is a 1763, any idea of how much for a full refurb to bring it back up to mint state would cost from the Mothership, ball park figures please...

Any ideas roughly?

Maybe it's not a 1763...

When you post a link to somewhere, use the URL button, below. It keeps the thread from getting really wide and wrapping around, causing people to have to scroll back and forth to read it.

Cost? Damned if I know....

You'd be best served by contacting th'Factory directly . . .

. . we really shouldn't do them the dis-service of issuing defacto "estimates" for them here in a public Forum such as this . . .

I kinda knew that but as many people here have had repairs then I was wondering if anyone had a vague idea. For example to make the top look new again for example, is it $100 or $1000?

Plus the auction ends tomorrow and I'm assuming the Mothership wouldn't be able to answer by then - ho hum

Doesn't look to me to need a refurb, just buy it and play it.

Um, good answer!

Out of interest whats the deal with work done, can I just send it there and make it like new again?

you will have to send it to them on your nickel, and they will evaluate it and send you a written estimate for the work you want done. You then give them the okeydokey or nokeydokey and they do the work or just ship it back, also on your nickel. If you win the auction, you might be able to get the seller to ship it directly to them, instead of sending it to you first. I'd check with the seller first, as a lot of sellers won't ship to an address other than the buyer.

Sounds reasonable, thanks for the info. As an aside, my fingers are shredded, the 1537 and 84C are to blame.

Of course!

been playing for 25 years or so but the recent session has taken the established callous's off - it's great to break into the other side...

that one actually looks pretty good, and as long as the action is good and doesn't need a neck reset, it's sure to be very nice sounding...

I have had several experiences with complete rebuilds, and top/bowl replacements, neck resets etc.. but those were all done pre-Fender so I couldn't give you anything that would even be a valid estimate at this time.. if you'd like to pm me, I can let you know what work they've done and on what models, and the cost at the time, but since the acquisition, that has probably all changed.

but again that one looks nice enough as is, and you can do a lot with cya and a polishing cloth and compound/polish to make those cracks fade or almost disappear.

As of yet I have seen no evidense posted that the traditional high standards of the service department has been compromised.

Unless you have a recent experience to share lets not assume that..."since the acquisition, that has probably all changed."

Nothing has changed in the repair department. As Brad said, if you know of something specific, say it. This year they rebuilt my 87C with a whole new body and it's actually, in many ways, better than new.

I'd trust the repair department with any of my guitars (some of the people there, I'd trust with more than my guitars)......

I was simply referring that maybe the pricing had changed, and NOT the level of service or amazing quality of repair and re-finish that they have always done., and am sorry if that is how my post was interpreted..

as others here have stated, send it up, let them evaluate it, and if you feel the price is right, let them do it... you won't be sorry.

That is an Ovation Classical Guitar. I don't remember exactly which model, but it has that signature scroll-cut fret board. It is definitely worth the asking price if the neck is still good.

It's not a 1763. Maybe a 1713. The 1763s have cutaways. the 13s don't.
