Does anyone on this board own an Adamas-Q, or played or seen one? I'm curious what it's like. Every time I see a picture of it I think of the black Night Rider talking car TV show.

It is my understanding that all the original Q's were recalled from the dealers and then destroyed. I have seen and played them and thought they were excellent. I played it at the Namm show and at the factory on one of my many trips there. The original Q's were acoustic only and the new ones will have electronics.
If the Q does not restore Ovation's name as the most innovative acoustic guitar company currently in the business NOTHING WILL. I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these and give them a real test.
If they reintroduce the Q at the Namm show next week in Nashville Miles and I will be there to check it out and give you all the details if not you will have to wait until anaheim next January were again Miles and I will be there to give you all the details.

Al: When you and Miles come out to the Anaheim NAMM show, you'll have to let me buy you guys beers. I was able to sneak in this last January, but don't know about next year. Unless I can go to work for you for that week.

Paul;

The NAMM Show is one of our accounts
(though I've never been able to make it to one).

Gimme a reminder when Jan. gets a little closer.

I got a couple of "buds" in our Anaheim office (and one of the the A/E's is here in NY), and I should be able to wrangle you a Guest Pass no problem.

I played a Q Model back in 2000. It was sweet, but for the money, I ended up buying the Collector's 2000 model (lacewood top, honey in color). I love my 2K! :D

Gentlemen:

What am I missing here? What is this Adamas-Q that is referred to in this category? How is it different or distinct from the other Adamas models?

Did I read correctly that Ovation recalled the acoustic Qs and will reintroduce them as acoustic-electrics?

What's the price range on the Qs? Thanks.

Do I want one? Do I need one?

With the exception of the ebony bridge & fingerboard & the spruce braces, the entire guitar, top, bowl & neck, is carbon fibre. Do you need one? Probably not. Will you want one? most likely, if you can raise $5-6K which was the rumoured list price. The one I heard GC use in concert sounded OK, which is a little worrying for such an expensive instrument. I guess if & when they are officially released they'll have it right.

I have an Ovation catelog from 2000 that shows one. I'll scan it when I get home tonight and post it -- very innovative look.

I have seen the Q at a NAMM show a long time ago. Where is it now? Certainly not in any store I have been to.

Does anybody know why they can't get that model out?

It seems like they started designing that 5 years ago. or more. seems pretty weird.

The first several protos destroyed themselves. They have dodge viper sound holes. I'm not sure what number the protos are up to but it's probably still in the teens. They sound great.

Paul T has it right, you don't need one but sure as hell will want one, just because.

I've got #10. I found it by the side of the road. I think the old man has #12. I'll check when I'm there in the next weeks.

Cliff, If you have a chance to get to NAMM, you gotta do it.

Yeah, I know Bill.
Being in the tradeshow industry, it's one of the shows that I've ALWAYS wanted to see, but I've never had the opportunity to make it "down" to Nashville or "out" to Anaheim when they've been going on.

One time, (about ten years ago) for some reason or other they had it in Atlantic City and we produced it from my office. Unfortunately, I was working on six other shows simultaneously and wasn't able to make it to "showsite".

I think 5 years or so development is not unreasonable... The recall was odd, but hey.. like most other things... a failure just leads to the "right way" to do something. I hope that if it is released that market it properly. From all I have read and some reliable rumours, this really should be a great guitar. What they DON'T need is for people to say "oh, it's just another Adamas" or at the very least "oh, it's just another Ovation roundback." Appearently a LOT of design and technology went into the "Q" and to have is wasted because marketing doesn't step up the volume would be..... just sad.

Hey, guys:

You mean Glen Campbell played this "Q" Adamas? No publicity photos of that one?

I've never seen it. C'mon...let's get some pics posted here. Better yet, send it to me by email!

Even best, send me the Adamas Q!!! (I'll pay shipping and insurance, of course...)

Tommy: Glen Campbell did play a Q for a short while but decided that the sound was too "cold". I got this straight from his rhythm guitar player who I now casually.

Also, finally, got your tape made and will send it out tomorrow afternoon. Sorry it took so long.
