Joined: January 2014 Posts: 8 | Hello everyone, this is my first post. I am looking for some help recognizing an Ovation guitar i found today in a local pawn shop. I dont have pictures at the moment but i would get some by tomorrow. The guitar is a Celebrity Deluxe Model cc057 Made in the USA (thats what i could read in the sticker inside) It is a Nylon string guitar with a classical guitar style headstock like this one: http://hotrf.eu/userfiles/productlargeimages/product_2499.jpg But it also have a steel string guitar style bridge, with the pins like this one: http://www.chrisalsopguitar.co.uk/images/gallery/pinsAndBridge_Stan... I have been looking in the internet but all nylon string Ovation i have seen have the classical style bridge. Also the model cc057 is suposed to be a steel string guitar. Thanks in advance for any helo!

That is what makes them Celebrity's. Also... Does anyone use bridge pins for nylon strings? This is definitely a modified guitar, even the housing for the OP-24+ preamp is weird. As is the battery box. That is either a One-of-a-Kind Ovation... Or somebody's Project. Does it Play nice? Is it "affordable"?

Without the label, it's got some modifications and as long as it plays well and is affordable that's just fine. But unless there is a "perfectly good explanation" that label seems like an attempt of deception, which is not cool. But, at the same time... we have seem some weird things. Of all the mods, that Label, while seemingly not possible, is the only thing that looks like it was done professionally. I'm not dissing the guitar itself. As I said, if it plays fine and is affordable, so be it. Weren't early Celeb's made in Moosup for a short time? OMA ?

Maybe celebs were made in the USA for a while, i have no idea. How could i verify if the bridge was modded Ill check it out tomorrow and look for a serial number, where should i look at? I doubt its a fake

Oh, and I didn't do this one... Edited by MWoody 2014-01-13 8:48 PM

I have a '97 Collectors' Edition with that problem. Here is what it should look like... Here is what it does look like. It has lost both of it's ears... "Van Gogh" is referring to headstocks that have lost one of more of their ears.
