Location: UK | Hello, I am currently watching a Ovation [aluminium fretboard] Matrix with its case on eBay, I've read about the Aluminium fretboards being useless once worn, and I was just wondering, since it has a resin neck, if there is any way of pulling up the fretboard and replacing it? Also is there anywhere I can buy Ovation case clasps? Help will be much appreciated. Sara |

Location: Boise, Idaho | The case that came with my Ovation Matrix was a cheap cardboard thing that isn't worth the cost of the latch.
Someone on this board did a thread about how the frets could be ground out and replaced on the aluminum boards. I don't know if it would be worth it on a Matrix. If the one on ebay isn't worn and is a good deal, buy it. You may never play it enough to wear out the fretboard. Mine's 30 years old and is still good, but it had a rest for at least 20 of those years. Now I have other guitars to play, so it doesn't get much use.
And welcome to the board Sara. |

Location: UK | Thank you everyone, this is quite a friendly forum :) The case is a proper brown Ovation hard case, maybe the seller bought it seperately? I could always use the Matrix as a slide guitar or wall decoration, in fact I'm getting a few ideas for my next art project heh. I envy those of you with Breadwinners :( |
