And what nearly nobody knows: These are Schallers.

Which doesn't mean anything to Dave, I know.

Best regards,
Kurt

There you go. I had no idea they were schaller. Not marked anywhere with a logo or name. They are nice tuners. I took them off a 6773 and replaced them with the same thing in gold finish.

Would they have fit a FUD, UTE, or 6773LX?

No. One of a long list of ovations that moved on to new homes. I kept the indian blanket as a reminder.

For nylon I now play a Takamine TC132-SC with CoolTube. Nice guitar

FD14 - Not without major drilling
U681 - Not witrhout major drilling
6773LX - Yes but screw holes do not line up

The tapered headstock nylons of today (1773LX, 2073LX, 6773LX, 2773LX) use individual tuners, not 3 on-a-plate.

Too bad, I like the looks of the 3 on-a-plate tuners on a slothead MUCH better that the current individual tuners.

I guess I'll have to pickup an older folklore to satisfy that craving.

Here you go:

Dave\'s tuners on Schaller page

Blues, there should be the possibility to get the plate as a spare part, with which you could "tune" your tuners to 3on-a-plate ones.

3 on-a-plate

Best regards,
Kurt

Kurt,

Thanks. Good information. I'll keep it in mind should I get serious about making the switch.

Question: Wouldn't the polished Schaller's have the same hole spacing issues as the ones's Dave sold?

Also, most of the attraction of the 3-on-a plate styling is the open tuners and the etching on the plate itself.

Blues

funny, I made a switch from the ones Dave sold to the M-style ones, because I didn't like the looks of those classical ones on my Josh White Reissue. And, besides, I had them on two of my guitars and don't think they are too precise.

As far as I remember the plates should cover all the holes - but for sure, you'd have to drill new screw holes.

If interested, I will take a picture tomorrow to be sure if all the holes will be covered after a switch.

Best regards,
Kurt
