I saw this or another ad by brother bobby and read it carefully for any mention of the "original" hardshell case or factory reconditioning and couldn't find anything. If he shows a picture of the correct case, he should have to sell that case instead of substituting a cheaper one. If you were lusting after a Ute and couldn't get one, the 1680 would be the way to go.

Gee, when it was in the listing for the 47RI, I thought they had created a new brown case just for the 47RI. IMHO, this picture doesn't look like a black 8158-0.

If I buy a new guitar from a dealer and then resell it, the warranty is gone. If a dealer buys a guitar from another dealer and then resells it to me, is it considered new and I get full warranty or is it considered used without a warranty?

This reason I ask is because many years ago, I bought a new car from a good friend of mine who owns a dealership. Now he owns a Ford dealership but was able to locate an Olds Cutlass Supreme convertable that I was looking for when none of the local Oldsmobile dealers seemed able to find one. I was happy....plus he also sold it to me for quite a bit less than I had been quoted by the Olds dealers. It was a bit latter when I discovered that because he had purchased it from another dealer and then sold it to me...it was considered "USED" and that I was actually the 2nd owner. SO....would the same hold true with guitars?

I would assume that they would both have to be authorized dealers. The 30th Anniv CL had been with another authorized dealer, never sold, now Al is selling as new with full warranty. By the way, I did discuss the case situation in an email to Rick Hall. BrotherBobbie told me over the phone that he orders ALL of his Ovations and Adamas guitars with the mid-range 8158-0 cases. Said he didn't have a 9158-0 case in the store.

I have played one of these 1680's - IMHO, the best of the best that I've ever seen (granted, I haven't touched the "holy grail" of the #47 yet). Definitely on the "must have" list, if you can come up with the chunky amount of cash. It is a deep bowl, not contour, 12-fret, etc, etc. Plays like melted butter and out-booms any other high-end acoustic I could compare it to.
