I've been working late at night/early in the morning lately and my only source of news has been the radio in my office and the Internet and neither has been able to provide a map. They've been saying "Central Pacific Mexico" but no indication as to where it relates to Puerto Vallarta. You okay down there, Amigo? Let us know. Those poor people just can't seem to catch a break.

That reminds me of a true story from the early 80's. Here in the Chicago area we encountered a sudden warm spell in the middle of winter. I've lived here all my life and I don't remember it ever getting as high as it did. A DJ from Chicago called a DJ in LA. The LA DJ asked the DJ in Chicago how the weather was. The Chicago DJ replied "The weather is fantastic. It's in the 60's, but we're getting a slight drizzle. How's the weather in LA" The LA DJ replied "It sucks. It's in the 60's and we're getting a slight drizzle"... Enjoy you 70's Bradley

Tonight's forecast is for 15-16 below, good news is that the wind chill shouldn't be a factor (a mere 20 or so below), and the fish are biting!!! Anyone want to join me out on the ice to sit on a bucket, and catch a crappie?! Norse(if my wife the fish-aholic had her way, that's exactly were I would be!)man1

Think I'm going to have to bundle up tonight ... they expect the temp to drop into the 50s. :)

Joined: December 2002 Posts: 939 Location: Fort Worth, Texas | You guys know what, I was wrong about the proximity of Puerto Vallarta, it is relatively near where the earthquake hit. Puerto Vallarta is in the Mexican state Jalisco and the quake hit in Colima, directly south of there. I haven't seen musicamex check in, so hope that he and his are OK. The paper says that aftershocks were felt in Mexico City, which is much further away than Puerto Vallarta. The news also says that the "westward slant of the shockwaves meant that much of the temblor's energy was sent harmlessly into the Pacific." I was wrongly thinking that Puerto Vallarta was further north up the coast... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqinthenews/usphac/index.html

The quake registered 7.6 on the Richter. Once again, this town was spared any loss of life and no one was hurt. Though we have heard of some cracks appearing in some buildings, there have been no reports of any serious damage anywhere in town.

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 873 Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | we're fine cliff. thanks for the concern. we felt the shake but it only knocked out the power for awhile in puerto vallarta. here it wasn't much at all. that is an amazing amount of force to shake something a few hundred miles away. we were sitting in philos getting ready to play, and many attributed the feeling to the margaritas. it really hit hard at the epicenter and killed around 30 people. the volcano near the epicenter is constantly active. there's likely a connection. with the recent hurricane, life here has been no less than exciting lately. we had guests arrive the afternoon of the hurricane, and with the non stop gigs i havent checked the ofc site for a few days. thanks again for thinking of us. the ovations are fine AND I FINALLY PHOTOGRAPHED THE ONES I HAVE HERE IN MEXICO. I will be taking them to moody pi, and paul said he would help me post them. our isp doesn't seem to like big files and we seldom send photos on line.
