I found something that I think is pretty special. It's a solo guitar version of "America the Beautiful". E-mail me with your address and I'll send you a disc.

Thanks Brad!

I got and it is very inspiring. I am looking for the right teacher this summer to expand my three chords. If I gave him this rendition and asked him to get me there we would both have plenty of challenges!

Thank's for sharing.

Woody,
Your welcome.
Asking an instructor to teach me to play like that would be like asking my barber to make me look like Brad Pitt.
And beleive me...I don't give my barber much to work with.

Me too....as if I have a choice. When Pam & I married 25 years ago she made me promise never to do the toupee or comb-over thing.

Doesn't seem fair - As woman "gracefully age" they have at their disposal such things as tummy-tucks, breast lifts, and wonder bras. And we guys have viaga, elastic waist pants and hair plugs. And they wonder why we buy guitars.

His name is William Russell. If you liked the sample, you'll love the disc.
I won't get to where I can buy the CD until after the fourth. I'll hook you up.
Don't dispare Tim. Some people are just wired different coming down the assembly line.

Can't remember the time or what show it was on but I knew it happened:

Chet Atkins playing a blend of Dixie and Yankee Doodle simultaneous. I'm sure he did others, but this one stands out (kinda)!

William Russel is good too!

I saw him do it too. I think it was on the Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs Martha White Self Risin Flower Show.....

You have been taking your Gingka Baloba! My childhood is a blurr.

My second childhood is going much better!

I have managed to do "Alice's Restaurant" and a few simple fingerstyle assemblies. I need tofind a good Teacher to learn more! Mr. Russell was very inspiring!

Keb Mo does a nice version of this tune on one of his older cd's. Played on a National which in some ways is more of an American guitar than the wooden ones (with their designs derived from Europe)

I heard Jim Stafford Do The Dixie/Yankee Doodle Dandy on Guitar once. It absolutely Blew Me away.
Though he's often Known For Novelty Tunes, He's actually a Pretty Good Picker. One Part was Played on the Bass Strings while he played the other part on the high strings. I kept looking to make sure he didn't have an extra Set of Hands. :D
