I was interested but being involved with other guitar deals, I let it gloss by. Then, Tim (TNT) let me play his one day when we got together and it almost never left my hand that entire day. Rarely have I ever felt that way about a guitar. I had been bitten: the first time I got to see, hear, and play this guitar, I knew I had to have one. There were only eight made and I was a little late getting in on what a great guitar this is. I had to wait until the following Monday (it was Saturday) to get it ordered if possible, and I was seriously hoping. I was able to work the deal with Al and it was soon on it's way to SW VA. Since that day in 2009, I have played the guitar for many concerts and Sunday service specials: it always sounds and plays incredible and with it's stunning looks and sound never fails to create conversation. I'm fortunate to own several very nice original Adamas guitars (and over the years have owned many others); IMHO, none have exceeded this guitar for eye appeal and plugged in sound: it is that incredible. Last week I decided to try a set of Cleartone EMP Phos Bronze 12-56 strings on it. I had never used them before and had past difficulty in finding strings that really sound great on the OFC II. No worries: I found that, for me, these Cleartones really are special. Plugged into my Roland AC 60 the result is simply incredible. I can't wait to do another live gig with it (actually I have a concert coming in June, so I have a slight wait). With this Adamas, I really have the best of the old and the new...we are so fortunate to have the heritage of Charlie's dreams and inventions to carry on with. As always, thanks to Al for making it happen! http://www.ovationtribute.com/Adamas_Models/Adamas_Custom_Order/208... http://www.ovationtribute.com/Adamas_Models/Adamas_Custom_Order/208... About a year later, Tim offered that same guitar that Mike talks about in thhis thread, and it was No. 5 of the limited run, the same number I had for the OFC-I and the KOALA customs. That sealed it for me. It was a whacky four person deal with money going to different parties and multiple guitars being shipped all over the world, but it all worked out. That's one of the blessings of the OFC. The continuing relationships between members ensures that for the most part, everybody trusts everybody else. When it comes to transacting business, nothing ensures continuing success like trust, trustworthiness, and reciprocating credibility.

They are very special guitars and it's nice to know we have sequential sister guitars...and I agree; while we as a community may differ on many things, trust and love of the instruments are commonalities that ultimately tie us together.

Normally I don't like 80/20 on any guitar, but the Helix are not as brassy sounding as other brands. On the 2080 they just sound fantastic.

What beauties you have acquired. Michael, your 2080 is stunning. Like the '08C, when it was available, I just couldn't swing it money-wise, but I lusted after those guitars. I still want an FD-14 ...

Willa, I still know that I'm extremely critically ill, (LOL) but there is nobody out there to help me..... and hey, sorry, a '08C is missed but you can play my FD14 whenever you want to.... You have an Adamas 1680 which is THE best Folklore you can get. Don't sell her, you WILL regret that for the rest of your life... Bernie
