I can't find the thread about pick choice that was here a couple of weeks ago - there was a link to a finger-pick site that I wanted to look at again so I could order some. Does anyone remember the name of the company - they had a range of picks that sit under your nails rather than over them.

that's the one. thanks.

I just scrolled back thru the topics and couldn't see it anywhere. I couldn't wait for the kids to get home from school and do the technical stuff for me.

Even easier - I'll just mail you direct with the queries and you can post the answer.

al came up trumps 5 mins ago on the Country Artist. I now have to get back to my calculator and bank statement. like cwk2 said on another post - you got the money, they'll make it.

Dude!! Yer getttin' a custom machine! Very cool. I see lot's of inlay, gold leaf, fuzzy dice and some shag carpet.

Glad to hear your getting the guitar you really want. This still counts as the axe your wife already approved...right?

Finally tracked down the UK distibutor and now have a bag full to play with. First impressions are pretty good but I haven't started chopping 'em up yet.
The custom guitar has all the things you mention plus indoor plumbing and "I love al" inlaid along the board.
I put the upcharge down to shipping and insurance and despite my original intention to come clean I've decided to let sleeping dogs lie.
If you're planning a trip overseas in a couple of months time the bad news is that the dollar will be even weaker. Using all the financial acumen that has made me what I am today I decided that the dollar could only get stronger so I sent al all the money now rather than just half up front as requested. This can only mean one thing.
And what is all this crap with ukes and dulcimers? The next best thing to a guitar is a mandolin. I thought everyone knew that.

I bought a bunch of the Alaska Picks. One for each finger.

Even before trimming them up, they are, by far, the best finger picks I have ever used.

I still suck.

(but...one on my thumb...)

Thank you Crippled Killer Bradley,
I was beginning to think I was the only one who knew that next to guitars, mandolins were king.

It's that damn Cruster and StandingOvation... always offering free tabs, free stickers, free drinks, anything to get us to read their uke posts!

Sam Bush is great but check out David Grissman as well. He has a huge body of work from bluegrass to jazz, backing Stephan Grapelli, hanging out with Jerry Garcia and lately doin the bossa nova thing. Tony Rice used to be in his band. Check out the classic CD Hot Dawg for a truely great acoustic ensemble.

I've got a great Stefan Grapelli Live In San Francisco DVD with Mr Grissman guesting on a couple of songs. Excellent - as is the stuff with Garcai. I shall now check out Mr. Ash.
