I just ordered 10 sets of D'Addario Pro Arte Composites (EJ46C) from an outfit called Strings By Mail (stringsbymail.com) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ordered on Feb. 21 and received them on Feb. 26. Best price by far. Anyone else buy from them?

Speaking of strings and guitar center (were we?). I'm out here in San Jose for a few days bored out of my frigging head with work, meetings and hotel food. So, I go over the the GC on Stevens Creek. Actually one of the nicest damn GC's I've ever seen! I'm in the woody room and a sales guy is running over the guitars with a feather duster. I start to take down a guitar to try and he says "Are you in a hurry?". Well no. "Let me restring that for you first". Sure, you restring it while I go into your restroom and clean the crap out of my shorts, because I can't believe this would ever happen in a GC. The guitar (some Taylor exotic mixed wood yada, yada, yada) with new strings actually sounded pretty damn nice. Dave

That GC on Stevens Creek is a good one.

I use www.juststrings.com. Same type of service.

Tuppy, too bad I'm in SoCal. You could've come over to my place and been bored.

Every three months or so Musicians Friend puts strings on sale and, if you are on their mailing list, sends you a discount key. Best prices by far that i have found on line. I usually stock up when the email arrives.

FWIW

just a quick post in praise of stringsandbeyond.com

i am delighted with their service, their prices, their free shipping and the 16 free picks they sent me (12 from elixir strings and 4 with their logo)

highly recommended!

i purchased a few sets of strings i have never tried before:
elixir anti-rust polyweb lights (6-string)
elixir anti-rust nanoweb lights (12 string)
dean markley alchemy gold phosphorous custom lights (6 string)

i've purchased from juststrings.com for many years and thought i'd give these folks a try. they are somewhat less expensive than juststrings and the free shipping makes it a sweeter deal indeed.

Check out webstrings.com. 2.49 a set and free shiping on orders over something like 12 bucks. I ordered a few sets, and they seem well worth the money. Got them in about 3 days too.
