Stenciling is easy, and can be done diy. Step 1 find a stencil font you like on the internet and import it into the place on your computer where you keep your fonts. I can send you some stencil fonts if you pm me. Step 2 Write out what you want to say in word and print it out. Could be on one sheet of paper, or more. Tape your sheets of paper together if necessary to form the words. Step 2a If you think you're going to be doing more than 5 stencils, or you like it, laminate the manila folder before, cutting out the stencil. Probably don't need to laminate if this is your first one. You can laminate it yourself with thick packing tape, or go to office depot. Step 3 With some sticky hobby spray, spray an opened manila folder. This will be about the size two of 8.5 x 11 sheets put together. Then using a piece of cardboard or a piece of wood you don't care about as a table, use an exacto knife or razor blade to cut out the stenil. Just do the best you can. Step 4 Now you have your stencil. Open it up, spray on the temporary glue, and apply it to a box, or a piece of wood so you can see how it looks. With newspaper and masking tape, mask the rest of the area. Use kyrlon and spray the stencil. Go easy with it, each pass should be just a mist. After about 5 misting passes it should work. Let dry two minutes. Peel off the stencil. A little overspray is normal. Step 5 Now that you've practiced, put it on your case. Step 6 Make a logo for yourself. Maybe a clock, a midget thief, a Mexican Bandito skull, skies the limit. There are stencil sites on the internet, just steal one for your own use. I've got a pretty good one. Again if you want, pm me and I'll send it to you. Step 7 If your band changes names, and you want to put on another, just spray paint the old stencil black. You can check out my gallary here for what did with my tele project. I like using the manilla folder method because you just take it out of you backpack, and put it on wall with masking tape across the street from the venue, or on the street or side walk, spray it on, and then fold it up when your done. And walk away and no one's the wiser. Good luck.

Have them run it on what's called "PaintMask". It's a white vinyl with a relatively low-tack adhesive on it that facilitates removal. Have them "weed & tape" it for you. This means they'll pull out the positive areas(the letters) and apply application tape over the top of it. You peel the backing paper off, apply it to the case (or whatever) and burnish it down. Then you peel back the application tape. This will give you a vinyl "stencil" applied to the substrate(case). Mask off the surrounding area for the over-spray and spray over the letters (if you want "permanence", I recommend Krylon - but spray a couple LIGHT coats, because if you "flood" it, the ketones'll "eat" the vinyl. After it's thoroughly dry, peel the masking away (use an Xacto knife t'pick out the "centers" of the letters). The "downside" to this method is that it's a "one-shot" deal, and you'll need to order/buy as many individual stencils as needed. The "upside(s)" are that you're not limited to "stencil-styled" fonts, and you can even do intricate graphics/logos, and with the stencil ADHERED to the case, the edges of the lettering'll be cleaner/sharper . . . (just a suggestion) HaveFun. (BUT . . Remember . . "What Sprays on the Case . . STAYS on the Case.")

Took a long time before I felt somewhat comfortable on stage, but I've been away from it now for about 12 years and I know the nerves would be right back again, now. I really should look into playing out again, but I'm just not sure I want to devote that much time to it again. I was really burnt out when I got out of it and don't want to go there again. :) Enjoy what you're doin'! Dave
