He went past 50 and came due for the check. In the prep meeting with the staff he was informed that for the day after the procedure to expect lots of gas escapes. Smiling he thought, "This will be fun!" Had the exam, drank all the cleansing solution the day before, sat on the can all night long, went and had it done and passed the test. Now the next day came and he's expecting to be able to produce a wide range of musical expressions. One problem. There seemed to be some lingering effects from the cleansing solution and there was no guarrentee that these musical expressions would be lump free, so spent the next day also on the can. He tells us this on the golf course and the other three of us are on the ground laughing too much to play the hole. And of course he didn't find out about the lumps till the third of fourth try, and again on the 6th try and he goes on with the story and we loose it more. Finally we just picked up and moved to the next hole. Later on when it was my turn to have this done I found that it was all true, but I knew ahead of time. Recovery was incident free.

Joined: October 2006 Posts: 5575 Location: big island | they were performing assembly line style colonoscopies yesterday where i had mine done. there were 5 of us patients all in recovery at the same time. we were told prior to the procedure that air would be injected into our colons for better viewing and that we would need to pass as much of it in recovery as we could to prevent bloat and gas pains. it was an hysterical scene with three guys and two ladies, one of whom was very "proper", all layed out on our stretchers letting the gas fly! the proper lady kept calling out, "please clear the room..." the staff reassured her over and over that it was necessary for her to pass the gas and that it would not smell. most of us were still feeling the effects of the anesthesia and the good-bye kiss of our inhibitions. the proper lady finally let a load go and laughed louder than the rest of us combined. we had a blast. literally! if in a movie scene, this would be much funnier than "blazing saddles".

Joined: January 2002 Posts: 14127 Location: 6 String Ranch | I had been having a lot of heart burn at the time of mine and so when they put me out they did the down the throat to look at the esophagis etc at the same time. On the table I asked the Doctor to please make sure that he did the throat one first. I thought I was being real funny. He said "Yeah, we've heard that one before. We'll try to get it right..." and the lights went out. Guess he didn't have much of a sense of humor that day.
