I posted this on Facebook, but it was suggested that maybe here might be a good place so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle...  There certainly are enough musicians on this list to qualify as on topic.

We all loose loved ones at some time.  It's part of life as they say.  But on top of that to loose the ones you love and admire or are maybe just inspired by, or entertained by and people of historical and/or cultural relevance, is an extra bitter pill.  Then enter 2016.  From Stigwood to Michael, or maybe from Adam to Zsa Zsa.  Musicians, Actors, Writers, Comedians, Astronauts,  even the voice of Bugs, Daffy and Tweety !!!!  Those who played lawyers on TV, and actual lawyers. From the guy who gave us Willy Wonka, to the guy that gave us the Big Mac !!!  And the reaper did not discriminate, from age 27 to 99. I even see two heads of state on the list.  WTF 2016?  Not cool, not cool at all.  So, I'm gonna watch their movies, play their music, listen to their interviews, cause while their repertoires will no longer grow, what they left behind will still help, inspire and entertain us when we need it.  But seriously, this is a list like no other, and  I hope to never see a similar one again.

Seeing all those who made it to their 90s or even 80s was somewhat encouraging, but the youngsters in their 60s or less was not. I suppose that some if it is that the baby boomers are now 60 and up and with life expectancies going up we have a top-heavy population. 2017 should be interesting. Maybe some one will remember to compare it with this list at the end of next year. All you youngsters better be able to take care of us.

Good one, Nancy.

And while we're at it I would also like (or dislike as the case may be) to add another great American pioneer to the list...

-- Bob Hoover, the "Pilot's Pilot", 94.

Add another to the list...

Driving home from watching Rogue One, my wife told me Debbie Reynolds had possibly suffered a stroke while helping plan Carrie's funeral at her son's home. By the time I checked the internet ten minutes later, it was confirmed she had passed away. 2016 won't pass away soon enough.

To those we've lost, rest in peace.

I could add 5 more names to that list from my own personal circle of family and friends. People you've not heard of but touched many. Devastating year for sure.

And yet we're going to see more years like this. Many of the people on the list were people who looked at in our youth. They were 5-20 years older than us and it's normal that they passed away.

And we are all getting to an age were people around us, most too young, pass. As we get older, we see this more and more. To quote Francis X. Reagan, "We all die. It's just a matter of when". Sobering thought.

I'm with Moody. Quite sadly, it's only going to get more concentrated as we go. Just go back 90 years and compare how much entertainment was available compared to today, and how few types of media delivery it used. Stage, movie house, and radio pretty much summed it up. A tiny fraction. So it was about then that the "Entertainment Industrial Complex" first began to take shape, and both counts have been mushrooming thousands-fold ever since; hence, the direct correlation in timely deaths and our recognition of them can't help but keep up with it. An acceleration of sorts. Sorry to be so academic about it. There are many whom I will surely miss. One day the numbers will plateau, but for now I guess it's all part of living during the stamp of time we currently do.

A little bit lighter: "Ain't None of us getting out of here alive, so do what you want to do, when you want to do it!" (as long as it's not illegal, or hurt someone else).
