You Tube Iffin Song

A traditional, yet cool looking guitar:

You Tube I\'ll Blow You a Kiss In the Wind

I'm trying to find out what guitars were used, but I am not having any luck. The first guitar is definitely a custom job, but I don't know about the second one.

first is a Vos with a psyco paint job and the second is a Harmony or Kay of some sort.
that's my guess.

Thanks Beal! When I think of Vox guitars, I think of the egg shaped guitars they came out with in the 1960s.

You are right, the second one could be a Harmony or Kay. For some reason, I thought it might have been made with a Teisco body with a different headstock on it.

If you're going to guess twice, Beal, you should make a different guess the second time.

The first one is a Vox Apollo. The second one looks like it has a Kent logo on the headstock. Definitely Japanese though.

Which is probably why I thought the second guitar was a Teisco with a different headstock. Weren't Teiscos made in Japan?

I'm surprised that the logo wasn't blocked out on the headstock, as that was usual for some TV shows of the day.

Now I'm wondering what the Vox Apollo and the Teisco guitars would have sounded like.

While researching these two guitars, I found out that Bill Asher, son of Elizabeth Montgomery, has his own line of customized guitars.

I've seen and owned hollow bodies like the Kent made under many different brand names. Teisco was one of them. I don't think there was ever a "Teisco factory" and whoever was making them at that time would also have made many others with their own brand names. I've seen Kent, Audition, Checkmate, Teisco, probably others...

I was given a Vox Apollo basket case back in '85. It had no pickups and I slapped in a set of cheap generic Japanese single coils, mainly because I had them and they fit. Sounded like warmed over tortoise poo with onions. It was a decent enough guitar and was deserving of good aftermarket pickups at the very least, but in the mid 80s one new Dimarzio was the equivalent of a day's pay for me. Now a new GFS humbucker is the equivalent of 45 minutes pay. But then again, that Vox was worth $50 in 1985, God knows what someone would pay for it now....

Well, there are two Vox Apollo Bass guitars up for bid on Fleabay. One is asking $650 and the other is asking $900.

Then there is a Teisco Silvertone Kay going for $31.96, but the shipping and handling is $39. 95!

Probably not! :D It looks like the second guitar didn't even have strings! :D

While researching these guitars, I found out that Elizabeth Montgomery's son, William Asher Jr., is a luthier and seems to make some really nice looking guitars.
