Hello,

since more than a year I'm trying to buy an adjustment wrench for my Collectors 1998.

To adjust the neck at this guitar I need the big wrench as the karman bar is accessible through the guitar's body.

Here is a picture of a friend's Collectors 2003 adjustment wrench, that fits my CE_1998:

(Dimensions are measured, might be imprecise.)

I asked Fender (off course) and they sent me a list of German distributors.
* The first one sent the short wrench for neck adjustment from the head three times(!).
* The second told after three months that he couldn't get the tool.
* And the third is now "waiting for delivery" for more than half a year... :(

Is it possible to buy this tool directly in the US? Paying, handling and shipping shouldn't be a problem...

Many thanks for your ideas, best regards,
Juergen

Have you tried contacting the factory directly? Or send an email to Al Pepiak (one of the moderators of this board).

You can use a standard length 3/16 allen wrench and attach a pair of vise grips to it. For as much as you would have to use it, it works fine.

Get a set of these and forget the vise-grips...

About $15 USD over here... So you should be able to find something over there.

Don't think the other side of the "T" handle will clear the top to turn it. That's why you need a single angle bend allen.

I actually use these myself... But I don't know if they have Home Depot in Germany.
Those cost $3.94

Obviously I only use one... But the others are handy just-in-case.

Sorry for the late reply...

I think I have one! May be the same as for the 5858 OWE.

Where do you live in Germany??

Okay... I waited, but I can wait no longer!

So, You are telling me that we can buy Metric over here but you cannot buy SAE over in the EU?

Try HERE!

Hello,

many thanks for your support and all the answers!

It is possible to buy SAE (inch?) tools in Germany, off course, but they are far less common than metric.

The main problem seems to be the length of the key, about 10" (25 cm), to have an easy access to the neck bar.

I already started to search for the T-handle Allen Wrench Set Old Man Arthur recommended, as they seem to be quite long. I could cut one side of the "T-handle" with an angle grinder, if neccessary...

And I found a " Fender Hex Allen Wrench " that seems to be long enough. (Also with a T-handle, that I could cut off.)

But then I saw Bernies reply. I've just sent him a private mail, if he's willing to sell the key.

I'll keep you informed.

Many thanks again and best regards,
Juergen

If Bernie can't help you out I think I've got a long one in a case somewhere.

I'm guessing that a 1/4" drive plus appropriate extension, socket (and maybe a wobble if needed) would solve this problem.

BTW, all the veehickles that I work on have three different systems one them; Metric, SAE and somewhere in between...lol
