I found out last Monday that I have Prostate Cancer...we caught it way early and surgery will get it all...getting older is not for wimps...lol
Seriously: Guys, call your doctor and get your PSA checked...it could save your life!
OK, onward and upward...

Yes, did that last week.

Always check the doctors hands before and after.
Make sure he's still got his watch.

What MusicMishka said - and Mike, it's great they caught it early! You'll be fine.

My PSA tested a touch high last year; they put me on the antibiotic cipro for three months in case it was a bladder infection. When I re-tested, the PSA was even higher.

My urologist was pretty convinced I was okay - when he did a digital exam (bend over and play army :( )he said there were no abnormalities he could feel. I WAS a little enlarged, which is normal for a man my age. Just to be safe, he did a prostate ultrasound/biopsy (kind of like a colonoscopy with a hard right turn), and I was clean and green. I go every six months for a check up. After next March, if everything stays cool, I only have to go once a year.

Unfortunately, the PSA test is one of the most unreliable medical tests in existence, but at the moment it's all they've got.

Guess I've got to give the Rolex back...lol

I think I've read everything on the internet about this and of course everything my Doctor has told me...Rick, that's the normal course of procedure and been there...done that...the biopsy is the best indicator so far...they did 12 samples and only one was positive...on the back side where digital exam would not have found it until it was advanced...radiation is usually good for 10 years but the return rate is high and it negates surgery later...so, get it gone, and put it to bed...I've got a family I'd like to see grow up...
My wife was insistent: probably saved my life...
If I can inform others and get them to be checked it's a good thing...
;)

Rotten news Mike, but good news they got it early. Treatments for cancer are improving all the time. I'm looking forward to the day the doctor says "You have cancer. Take these pills and come back to see me in 6 months time".

Mike,
As a survivor I know what you are feeling and going thru. I found what helped me the most were others that had been thru what I was going thru that had a open "ear" and let me ask questions, vent or just talk to someone that understood.
I'm here(28 yrs and counting....) any time you want to talk............
