I love Ovation Sunburst. I might have to think about this one.

Looks nice. Looks like a Legend, but I guess it has the mid-depth bowl. To me, it ain't a real 'Glen Campbell' without the truss rod, and the cover that sez so.

I've got a "bottom feeder" bid in.

Unusual to see the 'stacked' volume/tone shoulder knobs on a guitar without a truss-rod cover. Never saw that before...

The early 80's guitars had the stacked vol/tone knobs w/o trc. My Custom Legend and '83 Collector are both like that.

About how much is a 1627 from the year 1966 worth? It's in really good condition.

The 1627 didn't exist in 1966. Nearest 60's model was the K-1127. Earliest issue of the 1627 would be mid to late '71 or thereabouts. What's the serial number? that will get you close to year of manufacture.

Thanks, I'm a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to guuitar facts. I love this guitar though. I got it from a roadie for the Rolling Stones. It was used for the tour, I'm not sure if that effects it's value at all but it's true.
The SN is: 244 215 (It's black)
Thanks for any information.

Hey Tits,

I would think that a 1627 that was used on stage by the Rolling Stones should be worth quite a lot. And a BLACK one no less? WOW!

there's a pretty accurate ser# lookup to date your guitar in the reference section hotlinked at the top of this page..

another old one with a history and lots of mojo.
haven't seen a black 1627... might be a custom order ;) ... maybe not... but anyway I'm sure you realize it's a great guitar.

welcome to the board.

Thanks a lot fellas. I'll take a picture of it and replace my profile mug-shot. You would want to strangle me if you knew what I paid for it. I'm not boasting mind you I loathe boasting, this is just the only time I can remember that I endured in a transaction that worked way beyond my favor. I spent $200 on it and painted his kids bedroom. I guess he got tired of me swinging it off the rack every time I was in the same room with it. Some instruments are just...alluring ya' know?

Serial number places it as produced in 1981. Black (7) finish was offered on standard production GC models at that time, though I don't recall ever seeing one.
