Well, I've played SixOhSix, the new Pacemaker, for most of the last 24 hours, till my fingers are too sore to play any more. Though the guitar is very easy playing, the slight difference in fretting double strings requires slightly different callouses. Gettin' there.

Lotta of fun this 12string. I encourage those who might be a bit intimadated by them to check 'em out. I was completely surprised at how easy it is to play one. I had virtually no experience playing a 12 until yesterday and today I can play it almost as poorly as my other guitars!!

It makes "Wish You Were Here" and "Country Roads" and such, sound really great. Whole different feeling and energy to them.

Anyway, just thought I would give a nudge to those to whom a 12string might be a bit of a mystery....

....Oh, and I can clearly see why the attraction to a 12string U681T . Hubba Hubba...

A 12 string has always been my main (and sometimes my only) guitar. All my reasons are about the same as yours. I sold my CL12 last year because of arthritis in my left hand and got a Std Elite LX. That lasted a few months until I couldn't stand being without a 12 string anymore! Now I have a '79 Pacemaker which has had lots of repair work done to it over the years. I LOVE this guitar. I will NEVER be without a 12 string again if I can help it. John <>{

Jeff W,
What's your suggestion for a quality super-shallow USA 12-string?...

Out of all the guitars in my collection, my one and only 12 string is my favorite. The members of the band want it at practices and shows, and so it goes. Big sound when playing "Sweet Melissa", and lots of Jim Croce and America songs. I've not worked with an electric piece, but can imagine it is a good, smooth ride.

Regards,

Jeff

Steve,

If your interested in a shallow body QUALITY sounding ADAMAS 12-string, this one is one of the best for the money. If I didn't already have one of these, this one would be in my collection yesterday...this model screams, you won't be disappointed.

ADAMAS 1885-2

Hey Aloha, Yeah, I saw that one, and I WISH it was something I could consider, but I already have an Ovation super shallow case, so I will try and find a guitar to go with it...the choices may be limited...

Steve,
As a self confessed 12 string neophite I, can only offer you an answer based on the reasearch I did before buying and this particular guitar...

If a (super) shallow is on your list , I would also suggest an Adamas. The one Tim links to above is very close to one I considered bidding on and by ALL accounts is a great guitar. I simply opted for a deep bowl, pure acoustic. If cash isn't an issue go with an Adamas...I'd be inclined toward a textured top, but plenty of folks love their ME and SMT 12's

Well Steve,
I'm in the market for a replacment Ovation super shallow case for my 1881 (the case provided by Daddy's fit an Ovation deep bowl and was an aftermarket brand {free to a good home, just pay shipping}). Lord knows I owe the OFC & Fugot for helping me get the 1881 in the first place.

Maybe we can work something out to benefit us both! I'm always looking to add another Adamas player to the mix.

Steve,

This Adamas is on its second time around on ebay. I bet you could drop them a $900 offer and walk away with it.

Fugot also has one of these 1885's and can attest to the quality too..

amen to the 1885.

sounds only slightly less deep then a 1688/1685. probably easier to play on stage. it does have a slightly V shaped neck. I have only seen 4 in the last year. tim's ,mine and this one are 3 of those. peace mike

Steve, the 1885 is a super shallow bowl guitar. It would fit your case fine...or sell the case you have and keep the one that comes with the guitar on ebay.

I agree with Tim.....a phone call could probably snag it for $850-900
