Hello,

First off, I'm so glad I found this board!

I have an interesting little story to tell about my Ovation experience, I thought this would make a great intro...

So, when I was a teenager I had an Ovation Celebrity that I had to sell when I moved out of my parents house. I had bought it used for $50 because it was so beat up. Needless to say, regardless of how beat up it was, it sounded and played great.

So fast forward to last year (now I'm 22), I started doing a lot of studio work and traveling all over the place to play shows. I had been using this disgusting Washburn accoustic because it was so cheap and it was all I had.

I then put aside a good deal of money to start guitar shopping...
I bought a Martin CXE000 (dont quote me on that model #), I returned in less than a week because the neck was crap (it kept warping and bowing), I took another Martin home.... and within 3 days the 2nd Martin went back to the store. I took home a Takamine, brought it back, I checked out a million guitars but none did the trick.

So, I fly down to Florida to play 2 small gigs. I go to a local guitar store to do my usual "used gear snooping". I end up in front of the wall of new guitars and there she was, an Ovation 1778 T. I pulled it off the wall and knew immediately this was it.

So after 2 Martins, a Takamine, and lots of guitar store browsing... I landed on an Ovation 1778 T. I couldn't be happier.

Sorry for the long first post, but I figured someone here might be interested in this story.

Happy new year!

Welcome to the club!
Good story.
The 1178T is the Elite with the textured top, right? Alot of bang for the buck in that guitar.

Thanks for the welcome!
Yeah, the 1778 T has the textured top.
It still has a solid spruce top, and it sounds ridiculously good for the money.

The "T" series should be on the mandatory try it list for anyone about to make an instrument purchase!

Hi, Jonathan

Welcome to the club, and we are happy you like your new Ovation.

You can find discussions on the T tops by using the search function on the board, but I can tell you in advance that there are a number of players who were converted like you by playing one. It really is a great guitar for the money.

Welcome Jonathan

I was real impressed with the 1778T when it came out, I thought it was a guitar built for sound with few frills and a nice appearance in a utilitarian way. Most reviews here from people who have bought them seem to bear this out. Welcome, Enjoy your new guitar.

Welcome Johnathan! Ovations are special and I believe they have a special soul that traditionalists will never admit to. You can get tones out of an Ovation you just can't find in *any* other acoustic guitar. The "T" is very cool.
Enjoy all it has to give.....by the way some nice tunes on your site!
