John B gave me a personal factory tour in October of 1995. He was generous enough to let me take a few pictures of the day.

I only showed a few friends these pictures.

I hope I do not break any rules posting these. I do not want to show anything that might be confidential.

I figure it's been almost 10 years, I think people will enjoy seeing some of these pics.

Al, let me know if I should delete these.

It was a great day, the 96 collector's were being produced at the time, the vipers were new, and I took my 1758-1 elite to take a picture of outside of the front door like the owner's manual back cover.

The album is in the member section under ERNIEWAN.

Thanks and enjoy,

Ernie

PS CWK2, do you recognize the 2 employees in the spray booths?...I forget their names !!

Great pics, but I couldn't find your guitar in the pic of the front door.

Great pictures Ernie! The two of the building look like something out of a Dickens novel.

Thanks for the pics.
Looked like the camo TBolt had a regular headstock, was that standard at one time?

We had a BUNCH of photos available from our very first GroupTour, but for some reason, they just "went away" . . .

Ovation was always very secretive about how things were done. The factory didn't give tours all that much, and certainly not to asians who might have a factory conection, no cameras and all that spoo. On my first Orient trip in 82 we visited maybe 10 factories, some were even making Ovation copies. And guess what? For the things that we thought were so secretive and we were so smart for figuring out, they were all doing the exact same thing, the same way.
SO, in 83 the tour policy changed and the doors got opened. The lesson: it's not what you do but how well you do it.

Just noticed something that I hadn't realized in a long time....in the one picture that has the different fretboards in the shelves and the viper bodies on the left, if you have sharp eyes, you can see a stack of 96 collector's series fretboards on one of the lower left shelves..
