Does anyone know the history of the Ovations ending up in Boston's album art? I have seen them perfrom twice - along time ago - and there were no acoustics used -despite the great sound they got on the albums. How did Sholtz and company come to flip ovations upside down and turn them into spaceships?

Hmm, I saw them once and, though it may have been the, um, "ambiance", I thought Delp was playing an Ovation 12 string.

Delp's strength was not his 12 string prowess.

I've seen pictures of Brad Delp playing an Adamas 12-string on stage....and Tom Scholz playing a Preacher (I believe). I think the picture was in the "History of Ovation Guitars" book.

Tom Scholz told the story of recording "More Than A Feeling" in Guitar World Acoustic magazine a year or so ago.....he recorded the song back in Mass. with a cheap Yamaha 12-string while Brad Delp was in Calif. talking to the label.....who had just bought him a Taylor(!!!) 12-string.

Edit: It wasn't Brad Delp playing the Adamas, it was Barry Goudreau....

I think there's a pic somewhere of Sholz playing an Adamas onstage out there as well . . .

For one thing, it may be that Ovations are the only acoustic guitars that can resemble a spaceship. A squareback wouldn't be sleek enough.

Don't Be Afraid, Brad... there's Something About You... it's like you're Used To Bad News. If it gives you any Peace of Mind, I think that pic is Smokin'

I think you're just mad because Barry is playing a country G and not your favorite, with the high D note.

Somebody's been taking their "Every Chord You've Ever Wanted To Play" book to bed for a little extra studying. You go, gir...I mean, Brad! :p

I saw that too, and thought that Tom must be soloing while Barry plays rhythm. But upon closer inspection, I've gotta agree with the 'kid. A staged shot seems more likely.
