Hey everyone, I have a Applause Ovation here, dating from the serial 1976 and I have been trying to figure out what exactly it is, and if I am correct on the guitar type etc. Any help would be appreciated, I have posted it on ebay with a Fender guitar case. Hoping maybe you could help me identify it, if I am wrong please let me know!

OK, the title of your thread says Legend, and what you actually have is an Applause. I'm assuming that was just a mistake - maybe you were dreaming about getting a Legend with the money you'll make?

Anyway, there is no way that could be a 1976 Applause. They weren't making them with the wood fretboard back then. In 1976 Applause guitars had the aluminum fretboard. Is there any other label inside besides the serial number?

The serial number list here is only for Ovations, not for Applause (even though Applause was an Ovation product) so it won't apply to this guitar. It looks to me like this guitar was Korean made, probably some time after 1981. That's my best guess.

What CS said. I've been following this in the Welcome Center, hoping that you didn't go way off base before you got here. You have an 80s Applause. Applause was and is the economy model made overseas. If you want to see what it's worth in order to sell it, check completed listings on ebay for Applause. You're welcome to ask whatever you want, but I think you'll find that there are many available for about half or less than what you have it listed for.
I have the next model up, a Matrix, made in the USA in 1976 and although it's in excellent condition, I doubt it's worth more than $150, so I just keep it. I don't mean to be a kill joy, but didn't want you to get unrealistic hopes.

Yep, this is what I was saying in the Welcome Center. You are posting it incorrectly on eBay, and you should change the info right away so as to not be misleading... Assuming you don't want to mislead someone.

It's an Applause from the mid-late 80's. Nothing 'Legend' about it. Legend is a model made in the USA and by Ovation (not Applause by Ovation). It's their top-end center-hole line. Opposite end of the food chain.

To get a better idea of the value, check the Guitar Center website for Pueblo, Colorado. There's what seems to be an identical Applause for sale there. I wasn't investigating, I was looking for another guitar and stumbled upon it.

There you have it!! The wise men have spoken. And I am not saying that in a disparaging or pejorative sense whatsoever!

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but the serial number in the guitar has nothing to do with the serial numbers kept for USA built Ovations. You can't date it by that.

I didn't want to just run out there and post it... that's why I was asking for help! I have the original serial for a 76 based on the serial guide here...

http://ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=32469&...

I am just confused, maybe someone faked the serial ? I don't know what to say here about this one... I got Legend as RANDOM guess looking at the ovation serial database. I was hoping someone had a good answer and thank you all for helping.

So as far as the body style goes, we are talking applause ovation, no expert in guitars here, just trying to learn.
