After 3 months of anxious waiting, my Model 1111 (82) arrived on my doorstep fresh from a factory makeover.
Absolutely amazing. My wife bought this guitar for me 20 years ago. It went from being my showpiece to my "beater" without me even realizing it. I have to say its worth the money. It plays comparable to my Adamas, and the sound is booming. I wound up getting a new bowl/top, and fresh frets on my ebony fretboard.

Here are the before/after pics...

"............... I wound up getting a new bowl/top................" Are you saying the only thing original is the neck? Sounds like the George Washington axe I own whose head and handle have been replaced many times. Seriously if indeed those two original important items were replaced, is it really your old guitar?

In spirit! The neck is where the mojo happens. Not to mention it now plays and sounds like a dream. Most importantly, my wife knows its the guitar that she gave me...the rest is semantics.
Happy wife=happy life.

And the serial number is the same!!!! Magic.

Awesome! Lovely finish on that model. Yes, "happy wife = happy life." My husband has yet to learn this. I guess that's why I'm his THIRD wife. LOL

I get the short pants thing. When you live in a warm climate you live in shorts all the time. In eastern NC we're considered subtropical. Love your avatar. I'm a cat person too!

Yeah, but the axe is still Grandpa's axe.

Easier and less labour intensive (therefore cheaper) for the factory to simply replace the bowl with the top.

Got it admit, the Ovation sunburst is the best in the business

....but certainly.Mine was a small, playful provocation. The fact is that hot or not hot,if I have to show me photos from many people,I try to have a more "cool" clothing. But not in underwear-boxer.That being said,I wish you great play to our very satisfied mikitaclan.....

Very nice. Did you stay with X bracing, go to A bracing, or go with the newer modified X bracing?

Just glad it isn't over 110 in Vegas yet....cause then we tend to do whatever it takes to stay cool. My motto is, "I can't tell where my skin ends, and the air begins...."

and By the way I'm wearing Shorts, not boxers....
