Hi,

I'm new here and new to Ovation Adamas guitars. My name is Carlo and I live in Amsterdam, Holland. So a big hello to all of you. I've been reading your posts for a few months and find them very interesting as well as useful. Thus, please accept a big thank-you.

My friend and I recently bought two Adamas 2008-5 Collectors from Al. They are genuinely amazing guitars and we couldn't be happier with them or with Al's professionalism regarding advice, shipments and so on. However, we have a problem with one of them: while recording directly into to Pro Tools on a MacBook Pro one guitar's B string is much softer and records too low compared to all the other strings. Also the other guitar does not have this problem. Played acoustically they are both equally good.

Anyone of you have had a similar experience and perhaps can suggest a solution?

Thanks.

Now that's a strange one, unless there's a problem with the pickup. Someone will be along with more knowledge than me to help out.

BTW welcome to the fold. :D

Welcome Carlo! You've got yourself a Rare guitar there.
I would love to see some pics.

Hopefully smart people will answer your question... eventually.

It IS a defective pickup. We swapped one out from one guitar (#40) to the defective one (#51) and problem solved. Al is contacting Mother ship for a replacement.

I'll post some pictures soon.

Excellent news!

My father lived in Delft for many years, and I am quite fond of The Netherlands. I especially like the coffee shops. Here in California, starbucks just doesn't quite cut it for me anymore. ;)

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Enjoy your oustanding guitars!

We've got one or two Starbucks here but they can't compete! Now the government has banned tobacco smoking in all indoor areas so the coffee shops are very pure, American/Californian style. But I don't smoke. I teach Indian Vedic philosophy via music and sing bhajans (devotional poetry in Sanskrit) accompanied by my Adamas which is so beautiful it draws a lot of attention and enhanced the performance beyond the norm. You just don't ever see Adamas here. It's all Martins, Gibsons, Collings and Asian imports.

Carlo, I would LOVE to hear some of that Sanskrit poetry with the music! Any chance of uploading some of that for us?

David,

Sure here is a link below. Unfortunately, this was shot before my Adamas days. Very difficult to find Adamas guitars here. I had to order mine from the US.

So, I'm plating a Martin HD28 capoed at the 7th fret. The poetry is from the Bhagavad-gita last chapter.

Hey Frik,

.. vervloekte regering !!!!

niks meer te zeggen!

Once, we actually had a government over here that more or less understood they were there for the benefit of all the citizens and were in power at their discretion. Those were the days!
