| It should be here on thursday. Needless to say, I can't wait!!!! So my ???'s to early Adamas owners are ....What type of strings do you use? , Which of the inputs do you plug into---STEREO or MONO? and What are the 2 different inputs used for? Thanks !!!! |

From what I have gathered (and you can also search for on this site) is that few ever use the stereo feature, but it is another great feature when tapped. Plug into Mono.
Strings are a point of opinion but if you start with the Adamas, D'Addarios or Elixirs you will not be dissapointed. You will have to find your favorite when you are ready.

Location: SoCal | Unless you are going to plug into two separate amps, plug into the mono jack. Plugging just into the stereo jack will get you just every other string (you get the same effect when the battery is wearing out -- that can be real surprising).
If you do plug into two different amps, you'll find that every other string goes to one amp and the other strings go to the second amp. I've never done it, but I understand that it can make for some real interesting effects.
Unless you are used to medium gauge strings, go with a light gauge set. What kind is a very personal preference. You might want to search the archives for information.
You're gonna like this guitar an awful lot! Post some pics when you get it. |

Location: So. Cal. | I tried the Elixirs (Nano and Poly-web), D'Addario EXP and Adamas 1818. The Elixirs definitely last the longest (currently on the 1687-8) but I still like the sound of the Adamas 1818 (Light gauge) better. More ring, more vibrant and brings the guitar to life. |

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | P2PH - the Elixir and EXP strings mentioned above have a thin coating on them that makes them last a lot longer than non-coated strings, but they don't have the same bright, ringing sound as non-coated, and they cost more.
Try both coated and non-coated, and decide which you like best. Congratulations on getting your Adamas. |

Location: Toronto | When I got my first Ovation (Elite) years ago - it came from the factory strung with Adamas 1818's. I've tried several others, including the EXP's, Nano, Dean Markley, Martins etc... BUT - it's the 1818's that produce the tone that I want - and, they are far less expensive then all the ones mentioned in this post!!

Location: Scotland | If you want to use the stero outout you will need a Y-cord. This is a TRS plug to 2 mono plugs. Most pro-audio stores sell these as Insert Cords, used for patching audio processors into a mixer channel-strip insert point. You'd then feed this into 2 channels of a stereo PA, panned hard left and right. Frankly the novelty wears off after about 30 seconds. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | I never saw an endoress guitar that didn't have the sterio jack taped over so the roadie wouldn't plug it in the wrong hole.
p2ph, phosphor bronze, the 12-52 set, any of them would be OK. What's more important is what songs or licks will you play and in what order so that the new beast can speak to you the most.
