Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | I was emailing Al, and in the course of that correspondence, I had the occasion to mention the possibility he might encounter the jaws of my rabid spamblocker. Like most folks, only occasionally, must I enter the dark realm of my spam blocker and the horrors contained therein.
For instance, I saw a hunk of spam entitled "Horse Loving Hose Bags". A frightening website, I'm sure...But...
What a cool name for my soon-to-be-formed Retro Country Punk Band :confused: ! We will do mostly original stuff and maybe some Violent Femmes covers.
This got me thinking about all those bands I thought up when I was younger...o.k. even still...
...Like my fusion jazz trio, "Psychologically Siamese". We separated after the first recording session for our never completed album "Greenwich Mean Time".
...and my death metal band, "Satin's Pygmy Horde", which broke up, before it formed, because of both rehab internment and multiple paternity suits.
Which left me struggling to make a living with my Amish folkband, "Massive Head Trauma", a pure acoustic ensemble that tours the barn raising circut in our stretch horse and buggy. We recently cut out first wax cylinder.
I know there are other band names out there that never made it.. :D |

Location: Avondale AZ | Another band that never made was the rap group Drive-by before they finished their album (or are they CD's now)"Wrong House, Wrong Street", they were tragically caught standing on the wrong coner in the wrong neighborhood.

Location: Converse, Texas | In the mid-70s in mid-Ohio, there was a band called Screaming Yellow Zonkers. Thought they were very cool.
ALso, when I was at Kent State University in 1976, there was a band out of Cleveland called Molkie Cole. They were VERY cool. Wish I knew what happened to them, or wish I knew where to pick up their albums! |

| When I was 10 I thought The Beatles was the cleverest name ever. There's actually a band in England called C*NT - except they don't use the asterisk - and they get their records reviewed in the press as if it was quite normal. I'm lost for words.
My favourite band name was an American band of the 60s called Rabbit McKay and The Salomis River Bottom Jug Band. I've strung up so many people over the years playing hangman with that one. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | This is almost embarresing to go into - my very first band experience was in a group call "The Brass Bottom Boat". I was actually the drummer. We were trying to copy Herb Alpert & The Tijauna Brass. Shortly after, I took up guitar and the first garage band of any merit (i.e. we actually played a few gigs in the school gym) was "Preacher Sylass Crain". Then I found Ovation in 1970 and dove head first into "The Swampdogs". Started dating the chick backup singer and the rest, as they say, is history. |
