Custom legend fans, Which one would you choose on buying and why
A C.L. very early 80`s in excellent cond. or a mid 90`s C.L. in the same cond.

Thanks.

If I could only have one CL, I would want a burst finish 1658.

Hopefully someday....

Which model numbers are you talking about, cutaway or dreadnought, deep, shallow, contour bowl?????
My favorite is a 1999 Custom Legend model 1769,deep bowl, cutaway, optima preamp, xlr and 1/4" outputs.
WHY A CL???? A-bracing,AAA spruce tops, amazing necks, the most balanced tone you can get and superb playability.
Just my opinion but deep bowls are the best, if you play plugged in a lot shallow bowls are okay but nothing beats a deep bowl CL to me.
All other things being equal the 90's may have better electronics and the 80's top may have opened up more.
Ultimately its a question of which sounds/plays the best to you.

2004 Custom Legend 1719-CM30. In my opinion the only reissue ever made that actually surpassed the original.

If he can find a 1719-CM30 for sale i'd say buy it,I love mine but it sounded like his choices were for an 80's or 90's production model in which case i'd choose my 1769 over the 1619,both are great guitars but I'm partial to the 1769.

Another factor is how and where do you play...at home, on stage? Makes a difference. 1719-CM30 has the OP-Pro and XLR. Want to to Studio or VIP, interchangeable. It is the best of 1974 and 2004. Quality workmanship, quality materials, a real player whether acoustic or a/e. So good, the didn't have a 2004 Collectors. Remember, you get what you pay for...

I've been digging my shallows lately, and my R869 is the most versatile of the bunch.

For a deep non-cutaway, I've ended up hanging on to an Anniversary

For a cutaway, an Al DiMeola signature

I found an `82 C.L. 1619-4 from an original owner, lucky for me, he polished it after each and every use.the guitar is like new. no issues what so ever.very clean, no wear and tear even the frets are like new.
