Now that I have this Baritone guitar, I have been wanting to experiment with alternate tunings. I'd really like to start with open tunings, but I can't find any real guidance for baritone guitar applications. I've put heavier, baritone strings on it because they resonate so much better on the lower notes. I'm a bit concerned about any possibility of popping the bridge off. Is this a legitimate concern?

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Brozman uses an open G which turns out to be open E because of the lower tuning. The bass string is B and it goes fro there. The thing is that then you can play easily with someone in standard tuning.

So . .

. . you're saying that you tune it "like" OpenG, but instead of basing everything on that bass string tuned to D, you're tuning it to B??

Let me know how it goes StoneBob. I can't get off work for a while, but I want to get home and try'er out also. I like the key of E, and it sounds like you could also modify it to Em.

Thanks Beal

Any other ideas out there?

I'll have to try that too. I need to get some real baritone strings, I'm just using mediums right now.

I'll let you know in advance, they're a little harder on the fingers.

. . ah, but at the End of the Night, it's a "good" hurt . . .

It's not that bad really.
Kinda' like going from Lights to Meds.
After a while, y'just don't feel it . . .
