What are the differences between the 1619 and 1719 other than the obvious, i.e. 1619 has a TRC? I'm sure this has come up before, but I wasn't able to find anything by searching.
Thanks

I should mention I have a 1719 on the way...so I'd rather you not point them out if it has faults.

BTW, the ability to attach files is AWESOME!

1619 originally had a TRC, but it went away with the Kaman Bar. The difference is the electronics really.

Thanks Damon. I knew about the K-bar but hadn't thought about the electronics being different.

The 1619 model number remained for a while after the K-bar implementation. The model # didn't change until the electronics did.

(adding) FWIW, many like the older ones because of the carved TRC

Yup, I fall into that group. I had been looking out for one, but the this 1719 showed up and appears to be in excellent condition. I've never played a wood top with a K-bar neck. I hope it does for the spruce what it does for the carbon. I'll know soon enough.

EDIT: I've also read of folks installing TRC's on K-bar pegheads. Works for me.

Nick, your post count's at 420. That reminds me, I have something to go do.

FWIW, some of the most coveted O's had the K-Bar. The Book Elite, '87 Collector's, and 1537 are widely known as some of the best sounding models ever to come outta the factory and all had K-bars.

F***ing Guitar Center. I received the before mention 1719 this afternoon and got a sick feeling in my stomach when I saw the case. The in-hand description of the guitar was, " The only two issues are that it has a 3 inch scratch in the top that can be buffed out and has some light pick marks. Otherwise, it's in great shape." In reality, it was an FRG with several gouges and deep scratches in the top that had been finished over, the electronics/pickup had been replaced with aftermarket, loose binding on body and evidence that the binding had been reattached in several places, numerous cracks in the fretboard binding, severe fretwear, a large scuff on the bowl all the way through the textured finish, and a case that looked like it had been used to train luggage handlers at United Airlines. I've already gotten a full refund, but it sure was disappointing.

I've had similar experiences. I've also had good ones. They're hit and miss.

On the bright side; Disappointment is much easier to swallow with a full refund...

You're right, and just like Damon I've had good experiences with them too.  My take away from this will be to ask better questions next time or ask for more photos.
