Many thanks to Lefty Steve, Mike Winters and the Ovation Fan Club. Thanks to you my stolen guitar was brought to the police and ultimately I'll get it back.

1967 Deluxe Balladeer #698, 1968 Glen Campbell #F 962, 1977 Adamas, 1990 collector series, Kenny Rogers 12 string (backstage 'Edgar')....and hopefully my Adamas Millenium will be back in my hands soon!!

That explains the "George" on the TRC. I'm glad to hear this had a happy ending.

Awesome! The only thing that will top this story is when you get your Millennium back also.

The Millennium is a very distinctive model, so all OFC members should keep an eye out for it and PM George if one suddenly appears for sale somewhere.

It's hard to miss a Millenium:

Being in law enforcement, I am the first one to know NOT to get into the middle of an investigation.

That said...it appears that these instruments were stolen with the intention of reselling them. Pawn shops, eBay and Craigslist are the main pipelines for high end items like this.

IF we are to attempt to help, a couple of things would aid in the BOLO. From what venue (CL, ebay, want ad, pawn shopo?}was the Balladeer purchased. If it was actually purchased from a suspect, the the local LE probably (hopefully) will be able to score the other guitars. And to try to keep an eye on the CL from that area, it would be nice to know what area of the country this occurred in and what city Leftys transaction that secured the balladeer took place.

This isn't interfering...all it is doing is attempting to provide some extra eyes to the landscape.

I hope they nabbed a responsible party. That would be a huge step in finding the other guitars.

Is there a bar here? I want to buy you all a beer! Yeah, that's the Millenium. Only 75 produced and many went to Nakkau in Japan, a mega Ovation buyer there. I was only able to purchase it owing to a 30+ year business relationship with Ovation. I saw one in shipping/receiving at Ovation one day on a routine delivery and was dazzled by it's look as I'm a backyard astronomer. All the planets inlaid on the FB back when we had 9 of them. Mine is in mint condition. Maybe lightning will strike twice but even recovering my late Dad's Balladeer proves there is Karma at work in this world.

Jay - I'm right in New Hartford CT. Guitars stolen night of Aug 18 from my bldg in Winsted. 'Lefty Steve' (OFC member) purchased it from a 'marlene' who had it listed on craigslist on Sept 6 and 7. When he found out the guitar was hot he immediately drove it down to the Winsted PD handed it over and gave a statement. This marlene is in a lot of trouble. She said she bought it out of a car's trunk from some person during the annual Winsted Carnival. Unbeknownst to Lefty, she only paid $10 bucks for it.

Hopefully the police have enough to work with to make some progress. Don't worry about interfering with an investigation. To this point it's been DIY crime solving and they can use all the help they can get, especially in regards to ebay and CL. Thanks for your concern, GF

Jay is right about not getting involved in an investigation, which is why I suggested sending a Private Message (PM) to George if anyone spots a Millennium for sale. Then it's up to George to forward the information to the police working on the case.

Thanks for clarifying that Jay. I didn't mean that anyone should interfere… just keep an eye out, since many of our members spend a lot of time scouring EBay, Craig's List, Pawn Shops, garage sales, etc. looking for old Ovations. Millenniums are rare and seldom pop up for sale, so any new or recent listing for one could be a lead for George.

George, I suggest you refrain from publicly providing details here on the board, on the off-chance that the crooks are smart enough to search the internet. Almost any search for Ovation information will bring them here to the OFC. No sense tipping them off to what you know so far, and you don't want them worried either, or they might just ditch the guitar or stash it away for a long time, lowering your chances of seeing it again…

You can tell us the details over that round of beer you offered to buy, but, please, wait until AFTER they nail the crooks…

The local shop here had a wood topped Millenium. That was before I found this place.
I was impressed with it at the time but I wish I woulda pulled the trigger.

I am so very happy you got your guitar back.
Something told me to take a look at the Welcome Center on the 1st (my birthday), glad I did.
Hopefully the Millenium will show up and you get it too.
I hope lightning strikes the thieves :)
Also,
Thanks to Lefty too for doing the right thing.

I have to add, just saying thanks to Lefty isn't enough.

Lefty, I appreciate your doing the right thing by getting back George's guitar more than I can tell you.
You've re-affirmed that there are still some good, honest folks in this rotten ass world and that a lot of the good guys are members here.
I know it wasn't my guitar but I put myself in George's place and I tell you, I don't know what I'd do if my Dad's guitar was taken.
All I could do is wish that it would come into the hands of someone like you.
My hats off to you Lefty.
We ever meet up, I owe you a beer or several.

Glad to hear the good news...I just had an alarm system put in here...too much at stake to roll the dice anymore. A Springfield Arms .45 makes a good threat rebuttal but I can't be home all the time...

Nice to see the positive direction involving the members here...Bravo!
