Not funny :rolleyes:

here's the punch line:

He was hit by a car. He was playing on the road again.

I hope y'all are joking, cuz I was just doing a websearch about that...
Didn't find anything...

If it's true, it's sad.
If it's not true, it ain't funny. :mad:

Well sure, not the way YOU tell it....

If, instead, you respond;
Yeah, he was playing On The Road Again.

THEN it's funny.
Even Willie laughed! Din'cha?

That's the way that I told it at the bar. I was telling it to a friend and was overheard by Nelson fans (which I am not). My friend laughed. The fans wanted me to leave. Sorry I still think it is funny.

Not sure if I told this story here before, so if I have, bear with me. Back in the 1980's, Willie lived not far from us in Evergreen, Colorado. My ex-SWMBO had his kids in her elementary school class and became relatively close friends with his wife at the time (not sure if they are still together). SWMBO often watched his kids after school and dropped them off at their house on her way home. On one occasion when I was along, we went inside his house and there was nothing in the dining room except a mattress with evidence of somebody recently sleeping on it. We heard the toilet flush from inside an adjoining bathroom and out walks Kris Kristoperson in nothing but his shorts. He looked homeless and about 90 years old, seemed almost clueless where he was or that he was wearing very little, but was otherwise very personable and friendly. Willie was elsewhere in the house and eventually appeared and thanked us for bringing the kids by. It was interesting to see these two as regular guys. They were about as non-pretentious a pair as you could ever find.

Why worry? Nobody here is going to be around to see it.
He's like Clapton and Keef - indestructible.
