Location: Jet City | It's a 1981, but with a PAF case. Excellent condition with ZERO buckle rash. There are 2 spots on the neck that are a bit worn, and one spot on the body that's got a scratch on it but aside from that, it's in new like condition. All original except for the locking strap button on the horn.

Location: Jet City | I'm a big fan of these guitars, and I've owned at least 6 or seven now. I still have my burst which I just gigged with last week, and your'e right. If you have the pups split and on the neck, it's one helluva Tele replacement (though I like the growl of the Viper's pups a bit more.
I s'pose I should give some more history. This is a guitar built right here in the good ol' US of A in Meridian, MS. I'm friends with it's designer, Chip Todd (The "T" in T-60). Chip was actually an authorized repair dude for Ovation (and Fender, Gibson, etc.) back in the 70's before Hartley Peavey approached him about running their new guitar efforts. Charley Kaman actually sent him a Deacon at no charge, but Chip returned it after the offer from Hartley as he didn't want there to be any conflict of interest. He told me not that long ago that it's the one guitar he wishes he still had. Anyway, Chip designed the T-60 (And T-40 bass, and T-27, and the rest of the T models) and manufacturing processes and oversaw the complete effort, reporting to Hartley.
Chip introduced some radical changes to the industry with the T-60. Aside from the cool electronics in the guitar, it was the first to incorporate CNC technology to manufacture the necks. Chip modified a gun stock manufacturing machine to make the necks. After several years overseeing the Peavey efforts, Fender hired him to implement some of the same ideas into their manufacturing process. It's pretty much the industry standard now.
As for my T-60's history, well as you all know, I like taking pictures of my guitars. Recently, miniatures of the T-60 were commissioned. They're doing a limited run on the naturals like this, and also the burst with the rosewood board. Both are designed from pictures of my T-60s. I've had others too, in different colors and appointments.
Oh, and the T-60 is the guitar that inspired the PF-22! Really someone should buy these as a set! :D |
