Location: Tampa, FL | Hey guys. New to boards, great to be here!
For a long time, I've been wanting to date my Applause. I looked on Ovation's site, but no Applause model numbers are listed. My model number is AE-38, and serial number is 108742.
Pictures are here .
Thanks for your help! |

I have NO clue, but I'll guess late 70s...That headstock is from the oringnal Applause design that came out in 1976 or so

| Apparently, no one has a list of serial numbers with corresponding dates for Celebs and overseas models, which, I think, also applies to Applause. I had an early one with that head and the aluminum neck with integral frets. Bought it in mid 1981 or '82. |

Location: closely held secret | Wayne, has it shown up yet? I realized today that I neglected to include the original TRC - I'll get it in the mail tomorrow!!!
ps: the one on it is a hand-crafted mwoody original! |

| Not yet, Waskel. I figured 5 work days, so figured Friday, or Thursday if lucky. Thanks on the TRC. I guess mwoody here is fishgiven on Ebay? Saw a fancy Viper pick guard with TRCs, and a link to OFC. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I'd hazard a guess that it is from the early- to mid-80s. The neck looks like wood, and the label looks to be from that era. An Applause from the late 70s would be aluminum fretboard backed by extruded foam, and the model number would be an AA14 (I have one).
