Location: San Angelo, Texas | Ok...Changed strings on my 1777LX, same strings I have been using, Martin SP+ lights...and now I seem to have picked up a vibration/buzz in the bridge/pick-up area. There are no spacers, they came out months ago, and no other changes were made...nothing different than I normally do changing strings.
This is my money maker...the one I lead with on Sunday mornings as well as on Friday and Saturday nights, so it concerns me when it sounds like it's coming down with something...
Any ideas...other than to get my hearing checked or send it to you to check out? I know it has to be something stupid and obvious, but damned if I can find it! |

MostProbable:
Something's loose.
Check EVERYTHING.
Battery compartment, wiring harness, endpins, the nut/washer on the input jack, tuning pegs, etc . . .
9 outta 11 times, it's the STUpidest thing that may be loose (and most times, it's nowhere NEAR the bridge) that'll make a "buzzing" sound that SEEMS like its emanating from the bridge . . .

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Tighten the nuts holding your tuning pegs. I had a buzz that I swear was coming from the top/bridge area.
Turned out like Cliff said, "It was nowhere near the bridge". |

Location: Orange County, California | Don't forget to check the straploacks, especially the parts on the strap. I have had rattles from the p-up and preamp wiring. I also thought one was from the preamp "can" and thought tightening the screw at te botton would help, it didn't and made it almost impossible to get the OP-Pro out!! make sure the strings are "centered" in the saddles, and quit using anything that says MARTkeTINg on your Ovation :D :p :D :p |

Location: San Angelo, Texas | After a complete inspection I found the problem...a missing pick that somehow was stuck to the underside of the bridge just where the wiring for the pickup goes through. How it got there I don't want to know...somethings are just better left that way.
Thanks for all the input...I particularly liked the glue idea...that was the same thing the Taylor rep said to try.
I would love to play something other than the MSP+, but I break them, or have to change every week...and you see what trouble I have changing every two-three weeks... |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I had an annoying buzz (nonalcoholic) when I plugged into my acoustic amp. I searched all over the guitar and amp, but couldn't find it. I found out that the 12 string that was sitting on a stand had a pick in the strings that was buzzing. I could have sworn that the noise was coming from the guitar I was playing. I still get some interesting sympathetic harmonies coming from the guitars on the wall.
That was almost as dumb as my panic attack that the electronics on the 1537 had failed. Turned out I had replaced a dead battery with a weak battery. All is calm again in the music room. |

Try D'Addario EXP's. I play fairly heavy heanded, and they're the best by far I've ever used as far as lasting, keeping good tone, and not snapping every week. I use EXP lights (.12 - .53) on all my acoustics, and have never had a complaint. |
