I have a VXT as well as a Viper with both magnetic pups and a Piezo bridge.

They are worthy units.

They are real quiet unplugged. (I missed the question the first time, too.) Some of us leave out words when we read, Dave, others leave them out when they write. I think.

Our Worship Leader at Church uses a VXT. He runs it through a POD xt. The electric side sounds as good as any humbucking guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups. Real nice crunchy bridge pu sound. He usually use's a Tak acoustic model with a tube preamp built in and gets a great acoustic sound so we're spoiled but, I gotta say the VXT acoustic sound through the pod's acoustic model isn't bad. He's tweaked the pod (mostly eq).

I was never impressed with the acoustic side until I heard Matt Smith play one at Amelia. I use mine whenever a crunchy electric sound is required in addition to the regular acoustic stuff, which is about once every six weeks or so. It keeps me from having to haul two guitars. What is seldom mentioned is the great fit and finish of this guitar. Their cousins in the Hamer custom shop may have had some influence here.

Anybody know how these sound Plugged in?
It has two of the best pickups on the market for electric playing. Great hardware all around and outstanding build quality. Takes a bit of getting used to if you are coming at it from playing electric guitar, simply because it has an "ovation feel"; it has some acoustic guitar qualities to the neck. Using it plugged in for acoustic sounds, well I thought it sounded very good into my acoustic amp (G-B Shenandoah Stereo 60 (thanks AlPep!!!) but when I ran it direct into the mixer,,, whoa. Amazing! The VIP preamp is fantastic.

Unplugged?
Resonant. Fun. But why? Can't hold it's own with anything other then another unplugged electric.
It is nice if you just like to practice with an unplugeed electric as it is quite lively.
