Location: California | What is the best way to take care of the old, texture top Adamas 1687?
If the top paint is peeling, would Adamas repaint it or replace the whole top? |

Location: NJ | Could it be that the top is (cringe!) "de-laminating"?
If that is indeed the case, it is my understanding that the remedy is a "top transplant". |

Location: California | Hah, delamination could be the right word!! Just spoke with John from the factory. He said it would be costly & not just repaint ...
It's actually an item on eBay. Bradley is the current high bidder. The seller said the top material is peeling off ... Not sure if Bradley realizes the problem. |

Location: California | You should be happy. If you won the auction, your wife would kill you once she saw the "ugly, damaged" 1687 & learned that you needed to spend an additional $500 to replace the top & other repair :-)
The repair should cost less or could even be free for Al since he knows the factory people :-) |

Location: Scotland | I've seen this a couple of times, it's probably not as bad as you all think, it's probably just cosmetic. The top is black under the paint, looks like a minor finish problem rather than anything serious. |

Location: California | Could be just comestic ... the seller sent me some close-up pics. It looks pretty bad. |

Location: NJ | When it was first mentioned, I had envisioned the top layer of carbon lifting up from the wood underneath (gasp!). But having seen the pictures, you can see that it IS indeed just cosmetic wear and not a structural flaw. |

Location: California | Al, just kidding, of course you cannot get the top replaced for free. Hope the problem is just cosmetic. I guess some of us didn't enter bid & let you win the guitar at such a ridiculously low price (~$1300 with S/H) :-) |
