Bad Luck

I picked up my acoustic after the monsoon season and found my action about double the usual height but the sound was nice and snappy because of the increased string height, my fingers are strong and I can handle the poor action, is it worth adjusting the neck again or should I just learn to like the improved sound???

Good luck

My wife and I got our flu shots by spending 3 hours in line at a senior citizen sponsored clinic, I felt I had just experienced socialized medicine and understood why Canadiens come here to get their medical care when they can.

Any Luck??

My computer finished downloading Security Pack 2, a major effort that slowed things down for a week or so with automatic download, and took a couple of hours to install. Am I now utterly safe???

Hrmm, if you can play it that way and it sounds 'better,' why set it lower? Sure, sure, easier on the hands, less risk of RSI or CTD or whatever they're calling it now, but...sacrifices must be made for tonal quality! Besides, think of how easy it'll be to pull off monster bends on your Les(sismore) Paul with the 8s on it! You'll come back here telling us it miraculously "plays like buttah!" :)

Huh. I've never gotten a flu shot in my life. My wife has gotten one the last three years (side note: we've only been married three years; coincidence?) and every year she gets the flu, or flu-like symptoms. I have two requirements for going to the doctor: bones have to be sticking out or the bleeding won't stop. If one of those aren't met, I figure it's no big deal. YMMV. Oh, I know this guy that stopped taking OTC meds (sinus, headache, etc.) and vitamin supplements, quit smoking and quit drinking coffee. He did that like four or five years ago. Hasn't even had so much as a cold since then. He claims his body is doing what it was designed to do, now. Oh, and he avoids processed foods, too. Don't know that I could do that...

Bad Luck?
hmmm - can it now be used as a slide quitar as well!!!

Good Luck?
welcome to our world - I have to book 6 months in advance for my yearly physical with my family doctor.. If you miss it - you're screwed until the next year! The price is right - but that's about it!

Any Luck?
Like cruster said - 'frayed not'. Expect weirdness - then you won't be surprised with all the driver problems lots of us are experiencing!!

Bailey, I'm of two minds about our health care system. On one hand, it's nice that a catastrophic health situation won't bankrupt a family; on the other hand, free heart or cancer surgery ain't much good if you die waiting for it!

...wouldn't there be intonation issues with action that is too high? Seems like you'd be stretching the strings a little too much and possibly just enough to be out of tune... but, I also play banjo, so what do I know??

Interesting that health care should come up. I had to drink my first gallon of Golightly day before yesterday. The exam was nothing but the Golightly was like...how should I say it....a pain in the ass?

our washboard player who also plays banjo often tells this "story" at gigs. he says,"last night i left my "instruments" (we all roll our eyes) in the back of my car, and forgot to roll up the window. the next morning there were 3 bags of garbage, 2 more washboards and a banjo in there too."

the definition of optimism is "a banjo player with a pager". played with one last night and it was fun.

Odd that a 2001 reference would come up here. At work this week, I've been answering any and all email inquiries directed to me by selectively quoting and/or referencing that script. It's been entertaining. And the applications people left me alone all day today.

Next week it's going to be selected quotes/references from The Third Man. Or maybe Reefer Madness. I dunno.

:)

1) Yup, noticed some intonation problems when playing above the 9th fret, I just won't do that no more. Also, the monsoon season is followed by the super dry fall and winter, it might correct itself as it dries out, we'll see.

2) I would never waste my time on flu shots except that people my age tend to die when the flu hits and that would leave my wife, who has had a stroke and is legally blind, although she gets by OK, without any income and nobody to go out and get the groceries etc. as she can't drive very well. The other thing we got was a pneumonia shot that might be better than the flu shot. Pneumonia shots are not scarce and probably are the answer for any one who can't get a flu shot as pneumonia is usually what does the dirty deed not the flu.

3) I had to reinstall my sound system today as it was removed when the upgrade was installed and my wife, who checks out CD's on line wasn't able to play any today. So I may be so safe I cannot use my computer sort of like pulling the distributor wire to make your car completely and totally safe sitting in the driveway.
