It was easy to find in Europe for that time, but now that I have the money for it is gone, there's no way to find this model in any european country. At least I can't find it anymore and I asked the distributors here in Germany as well, but they say it won't be distributed in Europe anymore. Does anybody here know if it's anywhere in Europe to find? Some (internet) shop that may still have a copy to sell? Or do I have only the chance to buy in USA and pay the shipping and customs costs?

I've already contacted him a couple of months ago but there are some things in the selling process that I'd like to clear. I've also checked eBay.uk, the Ovation copies there come also from the USA, I just wonder what would happen with the customs costs, then inside the european union we don't pay them, but the guitar is actually coming from the USA, so I guess it doesn't make a difference if I buy through eBay UK, I would have to pay the customs anyway. In that case I think the best deal is to buy from alpep… Well, let's see because I want that guitar really bad, I'll tell you whatever happens and every advice is still welcome

On top of the purchase price the shipping costs is added plus acoustic guitar duty of 3.2% and with that lot added together I was charged 20% vat so it is a tax on a tax. Not sure if it is the same importing to Germany. Regards Marc

May I ask you where did you find that second hand 1581? I've never seen any second hand 1581, I mean the Kaki King signature of course, not the regular 1581.

Bearing in mind how often Ovation use different model numbers for fairly similar guitars I have never worked out the standard 1581 and the KK1581 carry the same number as the woods used and bowl size are different as well as the top finish. But it sounds great. I also own a mid bowl W587 but the 1581 is the better guitar when playing without an amplifier. If you are going for your first Adamas I would definitely say go for a deep bowl. If you're playing mainly plugged in the it makes little difference. Regards Marc

Regards Marc I like the W597 too, I don't know how much different it is to the W587, but as you said, there are so many model numbers it's difficult to know what's the difference between them. I've been looking for some alternative models to the 1581 kk and found out some interesting ones, the W597 was one of them, but there are also the regular one and the Melissa Etheridge signature one, the white Adamas, which I like too. But finally I'm buying the Adamas 1581 Kaki King signature from alpep, that guitar has really something special for me. It's not just that Kaki is one of my favorite musicians, the design is also perfect and I've been saving money since years for that one. Buying another one instead of it could only be a mistake.

I think I won't regret having bought the 1581 KK, much more I think I would have regret not doing it As soon as I get the guitar I'll be posting some video with audio and pics to share, I hope I can do this very soon.
