I am considering one of these two guitars. I have previously owned (and miss it) the 6778LX. I am deciding between what I had and know, and the 1777LX in TPB. Assming all else equal please provide feedback on differences.

- multi-hole euplettes vs. centerhole
- satin neck vs. gloss neck
- A spruce vs AA spruce
- rosewood vs. ebony fingerboard

any other difference that I am missing?
how much different do they "feel/sound"

thanks!

Tuff question.
Play them and listen to them side by side if you can.

A v. AA- won't be much of a cosmetic issue with a finish but, AA is a higher grade, generally accepted to have a straighter gain, more cosmetic appeal and "better" tonal ring.

I'm a fan of ebony fingerboards, but a good piece of rosewood works as well.

I've had both, and while the 6778LX is a sweet playing and sounding guitar, the 1777LX just felt more responsive, and sounded more alive.
In fact, I miss it. But a potential acquisition in the works will probably make me forget I ever saw it.

I have a 1777lx that I really like. It's light and comfortable to play. One of the things I really like is the deep dark ebony fretboard, doesnt really contribute to tone but I still like it.

One thing I don't like is how quickly the dark burgandy color of the top (mine anyway) gets dirty so fast. If I had it to do over I'd probably get the natural color. If you so much as talk dirty around this guitar the top gets smudged.

I can't speak about the 6778, but I think in general that traditional sound hole guitars like the 1777 are a bit heavier in the bass area that the multi holes models.

Waskel, don't you have one of each for sale? Or did you manage to get those sold?

And Ken, I know it's a bit off your radar, but be sure to check out what Gh1's got to offer over in For Sale.. some seriously nice gear over there, including some hard to find stuff. All in excellent condition and a great guy to boot.

Actually, I do. At the moment they are residing in another part of the country, where they are on display for potential buyers.

ttenn,
I have a 1771LX and two 1777LX's and to me the difference is there. the legend(1777LX) has the 1771LX sound but more "In Your Face". the fret board is much nicer too. other than that, you get a little nicer appearance(sound is more impressive to me)as If the little critter is telling you " I could be a CUSTOM legend if I wanted!" as far as the multisound vs round I can only say this...the only multi-hole I have played (briefly) was a high end addamas last night. now this is only my opinion...., this particular addamas may very well sound better to me than any other production accoustic that I have ever heard. IMO. the only other guitar that may win over this one would be a 1943 D-28 I played several years ago...AND it was lost in a house fire in 2002. now a lot of accompolished CUSTOM builders can build a sweeter sound....BUT...they had better make damn sure they build it on one of thier "GOOD" days!

scott,
