Morning all.
For those that are inteested here's a brief history of my recent eBay experience. I will cut/paste the original emails. On Feb. 16 I bought the following CC057 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3781967970
I immediately paid using PayPal with the following note to the seller-"....please let me know shipping details. Thanks. Bob"
After 24+ hours and not hearing from the seller I sent a follow up email.
"Dear nessam63, Hello. I am the winning bidder of the Ovation CC057. Please advise as to shipping details ASAP. Bob Shaw"
Well after another 16 or so hours I sent another email at 6:30 pm on Feb. 18. "Dear nessam63,
OK-This is my third attempt since auction end to contact you. Why is it so difficult to answer a simple email? Please send when item was shipped and by what means ASAP!"
By now I'm starting to get a little paranoid and more than a little aggravated. At around 1:00 am this morning I received this email. "Dear mac349,
ASAP meams to me, as soon as possible!!! the guitar was shipped out today!!! I have been working double shifts and the soonest I could get back to you was tonight. Sorry if you have felt any frustration, that was not my intention. The delivery time is seven days. Thank you for your purchase and enjoy your guitar. Best Regards, Nessam63"
OK I could tell he was a little pissed. And I have to admit the "working double shifts" excuse was one I hadn't heard in a while. I expected the old favorite "I had a family emergency. My wife/mother/goldfish/neighbor was sick." Maybe I'm just getting too cynacal. I really want to believe people are trustworthy and honorable. :)
Being grateful that I head from this very busy work-a-holic I replied "Dear nessam63,
All I wanted was a response to my email confirming the purchase and initiating some type of contact. Woulda took 2 minutes. I've been down this road before. You hang around long enough you'll see what I mean. No offense intended. BTW-You've used up your monthly allotment of exclamation points! Bob"
That's where we stand right now. Was I wrong to expect some type of communication aknowledging my original e mail? Should it have taken 3+ days to hear from him even if he was working double shifts? Am I a part of your imagination or are you a part of mine? (Sorry I couldn't resist)
Maybe I'm just impatient. Anyway in 7 days when the guitar arrives I hope it's as described. If so I'll leave positive feedback. He probably won't see it what with him working double shifts and such. Sorry fot the rambling but I felt the need to vent.

normally I am really good about returning phone calls and e mails in the past few months due to various injuries, I have scred up several times.
it happens, maybe he was working double shifts and in this economy find out what business he is in and where we can all get jobs cause his is happening

He obviously doesn't have time to play the guitar, so he sold it. Alibi is a bit thin, but plausible. Still a bit inattentive, though. Sure hope the instrument is in good shape.

While I certainly like to hear from a seller immediately after I pay him, I usually don't start to panic until 3-4 day after the auction ends.

Then, if I haven't heard, I will start sending emails similiar to the ones you sent out.

Knowing how many people are really computer illeterate, I assume they are having access problems or some other issue. That's one reason that I usually include my phone number in the message section with paypal....saying call me if there are any problems.

After thinking about it I guess all's well that hopefully will end well. It's just that I do get tired of excuses. In his case he made a commitment to provide a product. Part of that commitment as I see it is to aknowledge the buyer. Even more so given the climate of eBay. I realize that circumstances sometimes arise that prevent one from doing what they should. As in Al's case injuries and sickness can play a role in this. Sometimes due to the hectic pace of daily life a person just says the hell with it, I'll do it later. Hell, I've been around the barn a few times and screwed up plenty. And looking back on this I probably overreacted to some degree. It's just that no one seems to be held accountable anymore. There always seems to be some reason why things are not done, why it's someone else's fault, etc.
OK I'm climbing down from my soap box now and going to go take some photos of a high school basketball game. Then I have a gig at a local bar where I can release any left over frustration.

Bob, I think you have a gripe. In general, if a seller has time to post an auction, he darn well better have time to deal with the results!!!! If he doesn't, why on earth did he BOTHER?????

I'm a seller, and that's MY opinion.

HydraShock, Consider yourself lucky, I have a hard time with some of the attitudes that some of the sellers have, I mean not all, some. Most sellers try to do the right thing, even if they have to eat some of the expenses at least I have.

If I tell the buyer I'm shipping on Monday guess what I'm shipping on Monday.. And if for some reason I can't I'll expidite and upgrade the shipping so they get it the same time they would have if I would have shipped it out when I said.

I recently won an auction, the seller did not respond in 48hrs, I did recieve some E-Mails from someone but Norton had detected the E-mails were infected. I E-mailed the seller twice in the 48hr period all I could assume was that these E-mails were from him. I went on Ebay requested more info on this seller recieved a Phone number from Ebay and called him, made arrangements to pick up the auction locally and yes this guy's machine was infected.

Anyway hang in their hope it works out.

I find myself to be a fairly impatient ebayer. Let this also be a warning to you all - at least three people that I have bought or sold with have assumably left the planet before they could give me my much deserved positive Feedback. Their feedback numbers remain stagnant. One of which I truly believed is deceased and failed to pay for the item I sent him after much delayed communications. He was so incensed that I was accusing him of non-payment in my emails that I sent him the item. He apparently told his wife to send payment from his hospital bed. I took what I thought was the high road for a stinking TRC.

Otherwise I feel that if you are new or experienced you need to finish what you start on ebay! Customer Service is a personal character issue to me. If my PC went down then I should make it over to the library and use that one!

Just a quick follow up. I received the Celebrity yesterday via UPS. Inside the box was the ugliest red gig bag I have ever seen. Inside of that was my new Celebrity. The black top had more fingerprints on it than a hooker at a sailor convention. After cleaning it up I have to say I was looking at one of the most gorgeous black finishes I have ever seen. Fooling around a little I was surprised at the tone from the shallow bowl. Not bad for such a thin guitar. After a while I plugged it in to my Crate DXB 112 and WOW! Let me rephrase that....WOW WOW WOW!
I couldn't believe my ears. These things are meant to be played through an amp. Of course you "O" guys already knew that :) I do believe it's time to start saving for a deep or mid bowl model. I am now a true believer in the Church of Ovation. Hallelulah!!!!
