Well its the right color alright. I haven't seen that design on a Custom's TRC before. Are there a bunch of variants?

It's like seeing my 12 string Pacemaker on steroids. :D

Worth the starting bid and then some. I already have three 12 strings so I'll have to pass. If the finish was sunburst, I might consider a stab at it.

I believe this one was on eBay last year...something about the small tag in the soundhole. Don't remember but there was something strange about the auction. Looks great but suggest asking detailed questions.

I got my natural 1658 in 12/03 through a BIN seventeen minutes after listing started. Then, due to UPS damage, it took a trip to factory for a full top refinish.

I will be selling either my acoustic GC or my 1658 - both dark sunburst.

It may have been listed last year, Tony, but it was also listed just about a week or so ago. It got no bids 'cause the guy had an opening bid of $899, or something in that ball park. Not that it isn't worth every penny, but we all know what the guitar market (at least as it pertains to Ebay) has been like lately. If you've been on the selling end of any guitars on the 'bay recently you know what I'm talking about. This one looks really sweet.

Shows that I haven't been scoping out eBay recently.

If it is as nice as it looks, could be a great opportunity for someone to get what I consider the finest wood top 12-string.

Advice I would give is ask enough questions, determine how much you can afford, then go for it.

Looks like you've heeded your own advice, Tony... So, what's the seller saying about this one?

I was really tempted to bid, but I keep telling myself it's nothing more than my Glen Campbell 12-string with extra decorative foo foo on it... That's the ticket... I just need to keep telling myself that... Oh, but what nice foo foo it is!

I have a decent bid in on it...however, I have a as-new natural 1658(as well as a dsb 1658 & 1659) - the factory did a full top refinish (UPS)on the natural - wouldn't sell it for less than $1,500. In other words, a little sentimental due to the great job the factory did :)

If someone is going for it, let us know...I would merely be adopting it.

They are gorgeous - voice and appearance. Great match side by side with the 30th Anniv CL.

This is a subjective opinion...

If we didn't have eBay or this forum...whether you had the Pacemaker, the Balladeer, the GC, or the Custom Legend - you would have an outstanding 12-string that would be hard to beat for any $'s. And, for the $'s that O's sell for, don't believe you could find a better guitar.

There is a difference between the above but unless you had them side by side, doubt if the difference would be any factor in your performance or enjoyment. With eBay & OFC, we look at grade of spruce, whether fretboard is bound, gold v. chrome tuning, and abalone. Ovations, IMHO, excel as 12-strings, whatever the model.

This is not like a 6cyl v. 8cyl Mustang, this is cloth v. leather seats (or upgraded sound system).
