I'd wait for the '06 Collector's. Haven't I heard, though, that Koa isn't really a great tonewood for tops? | ||

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 3005 Location: Las Cruces, NM | Koa is pretty, used to be the standard for "Hawiaan" steel guitars, Steel Guitars, it has never been a good acoustic wood for an acoustic guitar, the grain does not have the desired straightness like spruce, and tends to muffle the sound of an acoustic. The best Koa "steel" I ever saw was built by John Dopyro and had a resonator and a pickup built in so the Koa was mostly cosmetic, a feature that almost all recognize as it's greatest use. If you like it's looks, BUY, if you like acoustic sound, LOOK AROUND!! | ||
