Joined: February 2014 Posts: 12 | New here, I came upon an electric acoustic applause guitar and I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback on it. The serial is 073185 and I can't figure out what the body type is exactly. I was going on the serial directory, but I couldn't find any similar body style starting with 073. I posted my ebay link here, because I can't post on for sale yet, and really I am more interested in learning about the guitar from you guys, who are experts. I appreciate any insight any of you have this guitar, and I thank you ahead of time for your expertise. So with that said, here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221371087068

"Legend" is a model name and has more to do the rest of the guitar, not just the bowl. There are four standard size bowls. Super-Shallow, Mid-Depth, Deep, and Contour bowls. There are other sizes, also. Chambered bodies, Deep cutaway bowls, Artist depth bowls. Just by looking at the eBay listing, your Applause look like a mid-depth bowl.

There were also no cutaways until the 80's, so that would not be from 1976 That would be a deep bowl, most likely built in Asia somewhere.

The serial does match up for that year under the database. damon67 - 2014-02-09 8:12 PM There was no such thing as a mid-depth until the 90's. The fretboard inlays look odd to me for an Ovation product, but maybe these were done at some point. And the bridge doesn't look quite right either. The cutaway is confounding for the s/n year matching. There are a few Applause experts on this board ... hopefully one can come along and have a say about this particular guitar. For now, caveat emptor.
