I am looking for a used, mid-depth, multi-soundhole six string. I would prefer a USA model, but still needs to be affordable. I was perfectly happy with my shallow body CS257, then I made the mistake of buying a deep bowl 12 string Elite... the deep tone and clean sound of the 12 string has spoiled me. Any advice will be appreciated!

Seriously. I bought one recently as a Christmas gift, but I'll be honest, the intended recipient got something else - I'm keeping this one for myself. And I already own several Adamas'. And on top of that, the USA made ones are becoming almost impossible to find. Al is a pleasure to deal with. I've bought a bunch of guitars from him. Grab that thing. You will love it forever!

The things to know: The T is not an LX guitar but it is based on the same concepts. The neck is a maple neck, not a skunk stripe style. The finish on the top of the guitar is a thin textured finish, not a glossy type you'd find on an LX guitar. It definitely has a bit of an industrial look to it rather than the fine furniture vibe of most Ovations. I think there may be a slight difference in the bracing, but I'm not positive. The sound, though, is as good as or better than the LX guitars. It is probably the thin textured finish which accounts for the sound. One of my daughters has the 2078T which is the deep contour version. The workmanship is every bit as good as any USA made Ovation. As long as the flat black aesthetics are acceptable to you, you really cannot go wrong with a T guitar. Al is a stand up guy to do business with.

USA Made, Solid Spruce Top, Quintad Bracing, "Rock Maple" neck, Ebony fingerboard, This one has an OP-30 Preamp... The one that Al is selling has an OP-Pro. These are killer guitars.

You may find a black textured top TX so that you can get an idea of what the texture looks like. There are also some Smooth Top TX's out there... So be careful if you are ordering a TX. Way back in 2008 someone ordered a Grey TX only to discover that it has a smooth top. HERE is a thread about my side-by-side comparison of a T and a TX.

The accoustic sound is much warmer and mellower. Since I play mostly high-volume rock type stuff, the T sounds more aggressive and works well with some effects, while the 6778 works well in lower volume, more melodic settings, and it's wonderful when played unplugged. Expect to pay a few hundred more for the 6778 though. I gave 800 for mine used, and I thought I got a deal.

I really like the deep contour body, and the vintage amber finish (matches my 1758). I found one on Ebay for $289, "new-ish", floor model display, described to be in "perfect condition" (keeping my fingers crossed)... I know the quality will not be that of a USA model, but the larger contour body has a nice deep tone, and is more comfortable to hold for us "couch players"... I will keep looking for an older affordable USA built Elite. I may decide to sell my CS257, if anyone out there is interested.

The idea of the T series was to bring in the best guitar for the least cash. They used tops that might have been AAA or AA but for some visual flaw in the grain.
